Arlo Parks<\/a> has announced her new album \u2018Ambiguous Desire\u2019 with her nocturnal new single \u20182SIDED\u2019.<\/p>\n

The indie-folk musician will make a sonic pivot on her third studio album, set to be released on April 3 via Transgressive Records. Parks\u2019 upcoming album will take inspiration from dance icons like Burial<\/a>, The Streets<\/a> and LCD Soundsystem<\/a>, along with historic queer nightclubs like New York\u2019s Paradise Garage.<\/p>\n

\u201cI danced more than ever as I made this record, I made more friends than ever too, found myself in the weird underbelly of New York juke nights, unleashed, laughed and laughed and laughed,\u201d Parks said of making the new album.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis record has desire at its center. Desire is a life force, it\u2019s a wanting, a yearning, a momentum \u2013 we are all alive because there is something or someone we want \u2013 desire is an engine. But it is also mysterious, tangled, random, enlightening and HUMAN.\u201d<\/p>\n

Now, Parks has released the first taste of \u2018Ambiguous Desire\u2019 with the elegant \u20182SIDED\u2019. Amidst grand, dark synths and gentle drum breaks, \u20182SIDED\u2019 is an exploration of \u201cyearning and tension\u201d. Parks also described the song as \u201cabout being struck by a bolt of desire and building up the courage to put language to that feeling, to make it real.\u201d<\/p>\n

Arlo Parks\u2019 record store tour will follow on from her \u2018Sonic Exploration\u2019 concerts<\/a> that she played in London, New York and Los Angeles last year. Teasing the record at the time, Parks previewed snippets from a song called \u2018New Desire\u2019, writing: \u201cI\u2019ve been in the studio working on new music and this little idea was born out of a late night session with [producer and songwriter Baird]. D sent me a voicenote in May that made me feel like a teenager again \u2013 tender with new magic.\u201d<\/p>\n

Parks went on to add: \u201cI wanted to put my heart on the line and write it how it FELT.\u201d<\/p>\n
