Discounting how egregious and polarizing the event was for Spider-Man<\/a> (The Amazing Spider-Man\u2019s ongoing comic book run, specifically) almost two decades ago, the premise of a \u201cBrand New Day\u201d arc is full of potential regarding how a character or storyline\u2019s status quo can change\u2014for the better, ideally. That\u2019s why, with the Marvel Cinematic Universe\u2019s new Spider-Man movie<\/a> that is scheduled to be released this summer, the MCU is on a bright path, hopefully with a wealth of creative freedom.<\/p>\n

Tom Holland\u2019s MCU Spider-Man Has Never Looked Better<\/p>\n

For anyone who isn\u2019t aware or knowledgeable about Spider-Man\u2019s \u201cOne More Day\u201d and \u201cBrand New Day\u201d storylines, Spider-Man: No Way Home loosely adapts \u201cOne More Day,\u201d<\/a> with the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day loosely adapting the eponymous comic. In the highly controversial \u201cOne More Day,\u201d Peter makes a deal with Mephisto to save Aunt May\u2019s life and make everyone forget that he\u2019s Spider-Man at the cost of his and Mary Jane Watson-Parker\u2019s marriage, as well as any memory of it.<\/p>\n

In the MCU\u2019s version, Peter Parker instead flippantly causes Doctor Strange to botch a spell that was going to make everyone forget that he was Spider-Man. By the end of No Way Home, Peter has Doctor Strange cast a new spell, this time making everyone forget who Peter is.<\/p>\n

The result of this spell is nobody having any memory of Peter\u2019s existence, including his girlfriend Michelle\/MJ and best friend Ned, which leaves Peter in a position to no longer juggle two lives and focus fully on being Spider-Man. Now, thanks in no small part to Spider-Man: Brand New Day leaks and rumors<\/a> that have been rampant\u2014an issue that Avengers: Doomsday has been contending with, too\u2014it seems that Peter\u2019s sole focus on a life as Spider-Man could have a massive effect on his physiognomy, let alone the relationships he chooses to upkeep.<\/p>\n

Either way, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is incredibly exciting concerning the direction that it could take the character. If Insomniac is taking notes, it would be fantastic to see new sides of Miles Morales and Peter Parker explored via their distinct iterations in the Marvel\u2019s Spider-Man video game franchise<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Insomniac\u2019s Spider-Men Need Their Own \u2018Brand New Day\u2019<\/p>\n

Marvel\u2019s Spider-Man 2\u2019s Miles and Peter<\/a> are left at interesting crossroads. Peter is unemployed, living with Mary Jane in his childhood home in Queens, and developing a grassroots version of Harry Osborn\u2019s Emily-May Foundation from their garage; meanwhile, Miles will likely be pursuing his passion for music technology at Empire State University and possibly teaching Cindy Moon, the daughter of Miles\u2019 mother\u2019s new love interest, how to become a Spider-Person.<\/p>\n

Still, Marvel\u2019s Spider-Man 3, which is supposedly going to be the final entry in Insomniac\u2019s Spider-Man series, will hopefully have a ton of surprises and rectify developments that have been divisive about these characters. For instance, Peter possessing a white-and-black Anti-Venom symbiote<\/a> when his best friend, Harry Osborn, could surely wear it to cure what ails him without worry of it parasitically or negatively affecting him, is a bizarre choice that hasn\u2019t been addressed yet.<\/p>\n
