\n deliver the \u2018Ultimate Driving Machine\u2019 experience in electric form.
\n From 2027, the BMW M Neue Klasse will usher in a new era in the
\n high-performance vehicle segment and, for the first time, bring BMW
\n M\u2019s motto, \u201cBorn on the racetrack. Made for the streets. Core of a
\n passionate community\u201d, to life with a fully electric drivetrain. \u201cThe
\n next generation of models are set to establish a new benchmark in the
\n high-performance vehicle segment,\u201d says Franciscus van Meel, Managing
\n Director of BMW M GmbH. \u201cWith the latest generation of Neue Klasse
\n technology, we are taking the BMW M driving experience to a new level
\n and will inspire our customers with outstanding, racetrack-ready
\n driving dynamics for everyday use.\u201d<\/p>\n
The future model generation embodies the DNA of the high-performance
\n brand with authenticity and advances the distinct BMW M driving
\n experience. The fully electric drivetrain redefines the brand\u2019s
\n dynamics, combining driving pleasure with racetrack capability in an
\n unprecedented way. Long range, high charging performance thanks to
\n 800-volt technology, and highly efficient energy recuperation make the
\n BMW M Neue Klasse a versatile everyday companion. The newly developed
\n architecture with centrally controlled individual wheel drive opens up
\n a new dimension of driving dynamics and further increases the driving
\n safety of all BMW M next-generation vehicles.<\/p>\n
The significant gains in driving dynamics are also the result of the
\n forward-looking central control and electronics architecture of the
\n Neue Klasse. Four high-performance computers, known as \u201cSuperbrains,\u201d
\n unite computing power for driving dynamics (\u201cHeart of Joy\u201d), automated
\n driving, infotainment, as well as basic and comfort functions. In
\n addition to enhanced overall performance through accelerated data
\n exchange, the next-generation BMW M models also benefit from faster
\n updates and upgrades.<\/p>\n

The BMW M Neue Klasse has been developed from the ground up. At
\n the core of the new architecture is BMW M eDrive, which is based on
\n the BMW Gen6 technology of the Neue Klasse. Each wheel is driven by an
\n electric motor. In combination with the M-specific control software of
\n the \u2018Heart of Joy\u2019, the \u2018BMW M Dynamic Performance Control\u2019 unlocks
\n completely new potentials in driving dynamics and safety for
\n high-performance vehicles. Additionally, the system enables maximum
\n recuperation and optimum traction right up to the limit, as well as a
\n more direct response.<\/p>\n
In all electric models of the BMW M Neue Klasse, two electric drive
\n units on the front and rear axles, each with one electric motor per
\n wheel, ensure driving performance expected from BMW M. Each of the
\n four electric motors drives one wheel. This concept combines all the
\n advantages of rear-wheel and all-wheel drive while enhancing driving
\n dynamics on the road and racetrack. Additionally, the front axle can
\n be completely decoupled. The result is BMW M\u2019s renowned rear-wheel
\n drive with its dynamic driving characteristics, enhanced efficiency,
\n and increased range, for example, on longer motorway journeys. For the
\n unmistakable BMW M driving experience and enhanced drivability,
\n various predefined driving modes, simulated gear shifts, and a newly
\n developed soundscape come into play. These are just a few examples of
\n how BMW M channels pure emotion into the fully electric BMW M models,
\n making it felt in every single drive.<\/p>\n
The electric drive units of BMW M eDrive are characterised by high
\n power density and are the most powerful drives BMW M has ever used. In
\n both drive units, the electric motors are arranged in parallel, each
\n delivering power to one gearbox per wheel. The drive units also
\n integrate the inverter for controlling the electric motors and the oil
\n supply. The system enables precise control of torque and power at each
\n individual wheel, allowing for optimal traction, continuous torque
\n distribution between the braking system and electric motors, as well
\n as brake energy recuperation right up to the limit. The result is a
\n driving experience in BMW M production vehicles that has never been
\n achieved before.<\/p>\n
\n Powerful high-voltage battery for high peak performance and
\n faster charging.
\n
The high-voltage battery, boasting over 100 kWh of usable energy
\n as the powerhouse for the BMW M eDrive system, has also been
\n specifically adapted to meet the demands of high-performance vehicles.
\n The focus remains on compatibility with both road and racetrack use.
\n This is achieved through a “Design to Power” approach,
\n featuring a performance-optimized variant of the Gen6 cylindrical
\n cell. Supporting this, the cooling system and the Energy Master \u2014 the
\n highly intelligent control center of the battery located outside the
\n battery pack \u2014 have been optimized for higher power outputs. With BMW
\n M specific solutions, the Gen6 high-voltage battery in the fully
\n electric high-performance models delivers even greater peak and
\n charging performance. Additionally, within the Gen6 technology, the
\n Neue Klasse models offer the highest recuperation values. The
\n high-voltage battery housing also serves as a structural component of
\n the vehicle and is connected to the front and rear axles. The higher
\n resulting stiffness in the overall vehicle also leads to improved
\n driving dynamics.<\/p>\n
\n Innovative lightweight design with first-time use of natural
\n fibre elements.
\n
Apart from innovations related to driving performance, high-tech
\n will be also reflected by new and innovative materials. Lightweight
\n construction has always played an important role in high-performance
\n models. Therefore, BMW M will introduce for the very first-time
\n natural fibre elements within the fully electric BMW M
\n high-performance model line-up.<\/p>\n
The brand gained significant experience in durability, production,
\n and integration using natural fibre in motorsport since 2019. This
\n material offers similar properties to carbon fibre but can be produced
\n with around 40 per cent less CO2e.<\/p>\n
