{"id":237655,"date":"2026-01-14T14:55:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T14:55:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/237655\/"},"modified":"2026-01-14T14:55:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T14:55:09","slug":"henderson-named-wrestling-assistant-coach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/237655\/","title":{"rendered":"Henderson Named Wrestling Assistant Coach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>CHAPEL HILL, N.C. \u2013 North Carolina wrestling head coach <a href=\"https:\/\/goheels.com\/sports\/wrestling\/roster\/coaches\/rob-koll\/4501\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4501\" target=\"_blank\">Rob Koll<\/a> has announced the addition of former Tar Heel wrestler <a href=\"https:\/\/goheels.com\/sports\/wrestling\/roster\/coaches\/evan-henderson\/4629\" rel=\"smarttag nofollow noopener\" rev=\"4629\" target=\"_blank\">Evan Henderson<\/a> to his coaching staff.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nHenderson, most recently an assistant coach at Lehigh, returns to Chapel Hill following his athletic career with the Tar Heels from 2011-16.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nDuring his time as a student-athlete, Henderson compiled 125 victories and two All-America finishes in 2013 and 2014 at 141-pounds. The Pennsylvania native was a two-time Atlantic Coast Conference champion, at 141-pounds in 2013 and 149-pounds in 2016.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nOn the international scene, Henderson was a two-time National Team member, 2022 World Team Trials finalist, 2020 US Olympic Team Trial qualifier, and a six-time US Open placer.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nHenderson was an assistant coach for one season at Campbell, and the last three seasons at Lehigh. During his time at Lehigh, the Mountain Hawks posted six All-Americas and nine EIWA champions individually, and three-straight top-20 finishes at the NCAA Championships as a team.<br \/>\n\u00a0<br \/>\nA 2016 graduate of UNC, Henderson earned his degree in interpersonal communication and organization, with a minor in coaching.
