Priyanka Chopra Jonas<\/a> stars as a cutthroat pirate in the brutal first trailer for The Bluff.\n<\/p>\n

The actress plays Ercell \u201cBloody Mary\u201d Bodden in the R-rated action movie, which dropped its first trailer<\/a> on Wednesday, Jan. 14.\n<\/p>\n

An ex-pirate with a bloody past, Ercell finds solitude with her family in the Cayman Islands. But, a synopsis teases, “When her notorious former captain, Connor (Karl Urban), arrives seeking revenge, Ercell\u2019s world is torn apart.”\n<\/p>\n

“Forced to confront the demons she\u2019s tried to bury, Ercell is thrust back into a deadly game of secrets and survival,” the synopsis adds.\n<\/p>\n

A press release describes The Bluff as a blend of “historical context with modern cinematic flair, filled with gripping sword fights, tactical traps, and bloody brawls.” It adds that Chopra Jonas, 43, “gives a fierce and physical performance like you\u2019ve never seen her before.”\n<\/p>\n

When asked in the trailer how she is “so good at killing people,” Chopra Jonas’ Ercell quips, “Your father didn’t marry me for my cooking.”\n<\/p>\n

Directed by Frank E. Flowers, The Bluff is produced by Avengers: Doomsday directors Joe and Anthony Russo and counts Avatar star Zoe Salda\u00f1a<\/a> among its executive producers. The cast also includes Safia Oakley-Green, Vedanten Naidoo, Temuera Morrison and Ismael Cruz Cordova.\n<\/p>\n
