\n\tEuphoria<\/a>\u2018s time jump is officially a reality now that the full trailer has dropped for the long-awaited season three.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe forthcoming new season of HBO<\/a>\u2018s buzzy hit series starring Zendaya skips ahead five years<\/a>\u00a0from where season two left off when the show returns on April 12. The official return date was revealed on Wednesday, along with a high-octane, nail-biting two minute-plus first look (watch, below).<\/p>\n

\n\tCreator\u00a0Sam Levinson<\/a> had recently revealed (with photos) <\/a>where the main group of former high school friends are now as young adults with the time jump: Starring addict\u00a0<\/a>Rue (Zendaya) is south of the border in Mexico and in debt to drug dealer Laurie (Martha Kelly); Sydney Sweeney<\/a>\u2018s unhappy Cassie and\u00a0Jacob Elordi<\/a>\u2018s Nate are engaged and living in the suburbs, and eventually get married; Hunter Schafer<\/a>\u2018s Jules is in art school; Alexa Demi\u2019s Maddie is working at a Hollywood talent agency; and\u00a0Maude Apatow<\/a>\u2018s Lexi is working as an assistant to a showrunner played by\u00a0new castmember Sharon Stone<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe trailer expands on those updates, as it follows Rue in her life after high school. \u201cI don\u2019t know if life was exactly what I wished, but somehow, for the first time, I was beginning to have faith,\u201d she says to narrate the trailer, speaking in the past tense. But her life is upended when Laurie shows up, reminding her that she owes her money, and Laurie looks to be only the beginning of danger ahead for Rue.<\/p>\n

\n\tRue is also reminded about her ex Jules, and they are seen in a brief reunion in the trailer. Meanwhile, Cassie is filming NSFW videos for the internet, much to the chagrin of fianc\u00e9 Nate who says, \u201cI work all day and my bride-to-be is spread eagle on the internet.\u201d She responds, \u201cI was just making content.\u201d Their wedding is also shown in the trailer.<\/p>\n

\n\tLevinson has said that \u201cbeing out of the safety net of school\u201d is what the new season is about. \u201cThe one thing we all agreed on is we can\u2019t go back to high school \u2014 although many, many shows have had 30-year-old high school students, we\u2019re not,\u201d said the writer\/director\/executive producer previously. \u201cFive years felt like a natural place [to jump] because if they had gone to college they\u2019d be out of college at that time.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tNew castmembers this season<\/a>\u00a0include\u00a0Danielle Deadwyler<\/a>,\u00a0Eli Roth<\/a>,\u00a0Natasha Lyonne<\/a>, Rosal\u00eda, Marshawn Lynch, Sam Trammell and Asante Blackk, to name a few.\u00a0Eric Dane<\/a>,\u00a0who was\u00a0recently diagnosed with ALS<\/a>, Chloe Cherry, Dominic Fike, Nika King and\u00a0Colman Domingo<\/a>\u00a0are returning, but missing from the cast this season are Storm Reid, Austin Abrams and Javon Walton.\u00a0Angus Cloud<\/a>, who played fan-favorite drug dealer Fezco,\u00a0died July 2023<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tEuphoria\u2018s long-awaited return comes more than four years after season two premiered on HBO. The unusually long hiatus was due to a number of factors \u2014 including aligning the schedules for the\u00a0in-demand cast<\/a>, Levinson\u2019s other HBO series\u00a0The Idol\u00a0in the interim, and a cooling relationship between Levinson and star\u00a0Zendaya<\/a>, as\u00a0The Hollywood Reporter\u00a0detailed in a cover story<\/a>\u00a0last year. <\/p>\n
