Jack Osbourne has shared an update on the long-mooted biopic about his late father, revealing that a \u201cphenomenal actor\u201d will take on the role of Ozzy<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The film was first announced in 2021<\/a>, and is set to tell the story of the Prince Of Darkness and his wife and manager, Sharon. It is being written by Oscar<\/a>-nominee Lee Hall (Rocketman<\/a>, Billy Elliott), and developed by Sony Pictures\u00a0and\u00a0Polygram Entertainment.<\/p>\n

Last August, it was reported that the project was still in the works<\/a> after Ozzy died the previous month, aged 76<\/a>.<\/p>\n

During a recent appearance on Billy Morrison\u2019s SiriusXM show, Jack shared some exciting news about the as-yet-untitled film.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are in full steam in the next phase of development with this movie,\u201d he explained (via Blabbermouth<\/a>). \u201cThat\u2019s an acted movie that we\u2019ve been developing with Sony studios for, like, six years already.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for who could play the solo icon and Black Sabbath<\/a> frontman, Jack said: \u201cWe have our decided pick, and I can\u2019t say anything [yet], but it\u2019s a phenomenal,\u00a0phenomenal actor.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cWe have a director attached, and we\u2019re doing a rewrite right now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Morrison then claimed that his friend and collaborator Ozzy would \u201cget a kick out of\u201d having a film made about his life, to which Jack replied: \u201cOh, he would. I\u2019d give him updates: \u2018Oh, we met with this guy\u2019 and \u2018This is happening\u2019.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd he just would go, \u2018I don\u2019t give a shit. Just tell me when it\u2019s out so I can go see it\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sharon confirmed last month that her \u201cmain\u201d goal was to finish the biopic. \u201cWe have a deal, and we\u2019re looking for people to work on the movie now,\u201d she said during an interview on Piers Morgan Uncensored.<\/p>\n

She also sparked rumours that Ozzy\u2019s friend Yungblud<\/a> could step into the role, when Morgan put the Doncaster artist\u2019s name forward. Looking taken aback, she responded: \u201cI\u2019m not saying a word.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sharon revealed that she had an actor in mind, but did not share their name. \u201cNot yet,\u201d she said. However, she did agree with Morgan\u2019s view that the star should be someone who \u201ccould capture the real Ozzy\u201d.<\/p>\n

Yungblud performed at Black Sabbath\u2019s final-ever show last year, where he gifted Ozzy a custom-made gold cross<\/a>. He later released his cover of \u2018Changes\u2019<\/a>, and paid tribute to Ozzy at the MTV VMAs 2025<\/a>. Speaking to NME last August, Yungblud said: \u201cOzzy was always my north star.\u201d<\/a> In 2022, both Sharon and Ozzy made cameo appearances in Yungblud\u2019s video for \u2018Funeral\u2019<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Osbourne family previously discussed the forthcoming biopic on an episode of The Osbournes Podcast in 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy the time they finish this film, I\u2019ll be dead\u2026 I wanna be alive to fucking see it,\u201d Ozzy said at the time. Sharon explained: \u201cMovies take forever to make. Forever.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked who she would like to play her in the biopic, Sharon\u00a0said: \u201cFlorence Pugh or the little girl from\u00a0Game Of Thrones.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sharon is on production duties alongside Aim\u00e9e Osbourne<\/a> and Jack via their Osbourne Media label.<\/p>\n

In a statement in 2021, Sharon wrote: \u201cOur relationship at times was often wild, insane and dangerous but it was our undying love that kept us together. We\u2019re thrilled to partner with Sony Pictures and Polygram to bring our story to the screen.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was previously reported that the biopic would feature music by Black Sabbath as well as material from Ozzy\u2019s solo career.<\/p>\n

Speaking to NME in 2020<\/a>, Aim\u00e9e said: \u201cFinding the right kind of actors to portray [Sharon and Ozzy] is going to be challenging, but we\u2019re looking forward to finding some newcomers. I think authenticity, vulnerability, charisma, all those kinds of things will be needed to play them, because they\u2019re just both so unique.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sharon has explained that she doesn\u2019t want the film to be \u201csqueaky, shiny clean\u201d like the Queen<\/a>\u00a0biopic\u00a0Bohemian Rhapsody.<\/p>\n

Ozzy died of a heart attack<\/a> just weeks after playing at Black Sabbath\u2019s huge farewell show, \u2018Back To The Beginning\u2019,<\/a> in their hometown of Birmingham.<\/p>\n

In other news, Sharon recently revealed the touching final words that Ozzy said to her before he passed away<\/a>. Elsewhere, Jack has said that his late father is visiting family members in their dreams<\/a>.<\/p>\n
