Chris Noth is shrugging off the heated discourse surrounding his response to an Instagram comment<\/a> about his longtime \u201cSex and the City\u201d co-star Sarah Jessica Parker. <\/p>\n

On Wednesday, the actor shared a brief statement on Instagram<\/a> in which he called the brouhaha \u201ca waste of time in a world where there are more important things to worry about.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMy off the cuff slightly sarcastic response to a comment on the internet seems to have caused a tempest in a teapot,\u201d he wrote. \u201cIt is not news. It is not worth all this discussion.\u201d<\/p>\n

Last week, Noth raised the eyebrows of longtime \u201cSATC\u201d fans when he seemed to echo the sentiments of one of his social media followers, who commented on his New Year\u2019s-themed workout post with a jab at Parker. <\/p>\n

Noth, whose credits include \u201cLaw & Order<\/a>\u201d and \u201cThe Good Wife,\u201d portrayed Mr. Big, the longtime love interest of Parker\u2019s Carrie Bradshaw, on all six seasons of HBO\u2019s \u201cSex and the City\u201d and in the franchise\u2019s two feature films. <\/p>\n

The actor reprised the role of Mr. Big in \u201cAnd Just Like That…<\/a>,\u201d HBO Max\u2019s divisive \u201cSex and the City\u201d revival series. His tenure on that show was brief, as Mr. Big died of a heart attack<\/a> in the Season 1 premiere. <\/p>\n

Noth\u2019s exit from the franchise, however, was marred by controversy. Shortly after \u201cAnd Just Like That…\u201d debuted in 2021, the actor was accused<\/a> of sexual assault by two women. Though Noth deemed the allegations \u201ccategorically false,\u201d scenes featuring Mr. Big in the Season 1 finale of \u201cAnd Just Like That…\u201d were reportedly removed<\/a> before the episode hit the airwaves in 2022. <\/p>\n

By all accounts, Noth has appeared to remain on good terms with Parker. Speaking to The Guardian<\/a> in 2021, he described their relationship as \u201cvery close\u201d while defending Parker amid reports of a longstanding feud<\/a> between her and another \u201cSATC\u201d actor, Kim Cattrall<\/a>.<\/p>\n

After a brief hiatus from Hollywood, Noth returned to acting last year in the horror film \u201cThe Block<\/a>,\u201d co-starring Jack Falahee<\/a> of \u201cHow to Get Away with Murder.\u201d <\/p>\n
