<\/p>\nHarriet Cowan, the 24-year-old who emerged as a standout personality from the fourth series of Jeremy Clarkson’s Amazon Prime Video programme, has fired back at online trolls targeting her appearance.<\/p>\n
The young farmer, who works alongside Mr Clarkson, his partner Lisa Hogan and fan favourite Kaleb Cooper on the hit show, addressed a barrage of negative comments she has encountered this week.<\/p>\n
Critics took aim at her choice to wear makeup and style her hair whilst carrying out agricultural work and preparing to speak publicly about women in farming.<\/p>\n
Taking to Instagram on Monday, Ms Cowan confronted the abuse head-on, sharing examples of the hostile messages she had received following her announcement about an upcoming farming talk.<\/p>\n
Among the comments Ms Cowan highlighted was one accusing her of never being “a real farmer” and merely “attempting to be a media star”, with the critic adding it was “a bit insulting to the real farm girls”.<\/p>\n
Another detractor wrote: “None I have ever known apply full make up and get their hair done to drive a tractor.”<\/p>\n
A separate commenter suggested there were “more informative speakers” available to discuss navigating the agricultural industry.<\/p>\n
One particularly pointed remark claimed “fame has gone to her head”, criticising her social media presence as unnecessary and noting that farmers have worked for years “without all the attention” and simply “get on with it”.<\/p>\n

Ms Cowan responded with a lengthy message defending her credentials, stating: “Just want to say I’m going to lamma to look at machinery, yes I’m doing a panel about females in farming, but I think I earn the right to do so when day in day out I work just the same as every other farmer covered in s***, who cares if I wear makeup or not.<\/p>\n
“I don’t care if you have a haircut or not, I have farmed alongside my granddad and dad I genuinely love it.<\/p>\n
“This is my job and it’s again only because I’m a girl come on, I have been quiet because I think if I don’t share so much I won’t get the comments but they still come, remember we are real people.”<\/p>\n
The Derbyshire farmer emphasised that the criticism stemmed from her gender, pointing out that her daily work is identical to any other agricultural worker.<\/p>\n

Ms Cowan stepped into the spotlight when she was brought in to assist on Clarkson’s Oxfordshire farm while Mr Cooper was occupied with his nationwide touring show.<\/p>\n
The nurse-turned-farmer from Derbyshire quickly captured viewers’ attention, amassing a substantial social media following in the wake of her television appearances.<\/p>\n
Her rapid ascent to public recognition has brought both opportunities and challenges, with the online abuse representing a significant downside to her newfound celebrity status.<\/p>\n
Last summer, talent agency Off Limits Entertainment added Ms Cowan to their roster, capitalising on her success from the Amazon Prime Video series.<\/p>\n
