<\/p>\nOn the sixth day of the new year, normally a bleakly depressing time for corporate employees, Enhypen had a treat in store for their fans. Ahead of the release of their seventh mini album, The Sin: Vanish, the group\u2014made up of Heeseung, Jay, Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, Jungwon, and Ni-Ki\u2014invited select press to a virtual listening session, during which members shared their favorite tracks (\u201cKnife,\u201d \u201cStealer,\u201d and \u201cSleep Tight\u201d among them) and some of the global inspirations for their songs.<\/p>\n

Photo: Courtesy of BELIFT LABWe\u2019re in the Zoom waiting for Enhypen to join the call. It\u2019s 9 a.m. in New York, which means it\u2019s 11 p.m. in Korea, where the members are based. Quite late, but I guess when you have a new album coming out in just a week, it\u2019s all work and no play!The members join and do a little introduction. Attendees already know who they are, of course, but it\u2019s very cute. They are all in lounge-y streetwear looks, but still look super cool.They\u2019re about to play the first track, produced by Jake, titled \u201cThe Beginning.\u201d Jay kicks things off by explaining that it\u2019s all narration, setting the tone for the rest of the album.The second track is titled \u201cNo Way Back.\u201d It has an R&B sound, but features the indie rock musician So! YoON!\u2014a surprising combination that actually works really well.\u201cKnife\u201d is the album\u2019s lead single and it\u2019s super catchy. It\u2019s very hip-hop\u2013focused, which seems to be the album\u2019s main genre. I\u2019m very into this shift from the boyish, poppy vibe of the group\u2019s previous releases.Now they\u2019re playing a song called \u201cStealer,\u201d which is my favorite so far. It\u2019s Latin\u2013inspired, something that Jungwon explains the group always wanted to try. It suits them!We\u2019re on to the B-side track now, titled \u201cBig Girls Don\u2019t Cry.\u201d Ni-ki says it\u2019s one of his favorite songs: \u201cWe love all the tracks in our album, but for this particular track, from the moment we heard it, it captivated our ears. It has such a refined melody and sound that is so great.\u201d I have to agree, and definitely think this will be a huge fan favorite. Usually the B-side tracks aren\u2019t promoted as much, but the group promises there\u2019s a great performance aspect to this song once they hit the road with the album.\u201cLost Island\u201d breaks away from the hip-hop and R&B sound of most of the rest of the album; it feels very pop. I think this one may actually be my favorite song. The melody and the chorus are infectious.We were bound to see the members become more involved in the writing and producing process by their seventh album. For their song \u201cSleep Tight,\u201d Jake composed the music and Heeseung co-wrote the lyrics. Before they play the song, Jake describes it as being inspired by \u201cthe feeling you get after an escape from a person or a place.\u201dThe audience\u2014myself included\u2014is very into \u201cSleep Tight.\u201d I can see why it\u2019s the last \u201cofficial\u201d song on the album; the next one is another narrative track to tie the project together\u2014and tease what\u2019s coming next for the group.The group closed out 2025 with a ton of wins at awards shows in Asia, which comes as no surprise. My top three song picks are \u201cStealer,\u201d \u201cBig Girls Don\u2019t Cry,\u201d and \u201cLost Island,\u201d but it really is a no-skip album.
