About 3,000 immigration officers are either continuing their operations in Minnesota or are en route to deploy in the state.<\/p>\n The American Civil Liberties Union filed a lawsuit <\/a>on Thursday against the Trump administration, accusing federal immigration authorities in Minnesota of racial profiling and unlawful arrests, as Donald Trump threatened to invoke<\/a> the Insurrection Act in response to the widespread protests against the federal immigration operations.<\/p>\n Minnesota\u2019s governor, Tim Walz, has urged demonstrators to \u201cspeak out loudly, urgently but also peacefully\u201d and made a direct appeal to the president to \u201cturn the temperature down.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cStop this campaign of retribution,\u201d Walz said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cThis is not who we are.\u201d<\/p>\n On Wednesday night, a federal officer shot a man in the leg <\/a>during an enforcement operation in north Minneapolis, which sparked more protests.<\/p>\n Following the shooting, the Minneapolis mayor, Jacob Frey, beseeched his constituents to \u201cnot take the bait\u201d and respond with violence. \u201cWe cannot counter Donald Trump\u2019s chaos with our own brand of chaos,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n In other developments:<\/p>\n A group of US parliamentarians is visiting Copenhagen today for talks with senior Danish and Greenlandic officials.
