There are so many new and tantalizing stories to be told in Bridgerton<\/a> season four, but one of the most intriguing is about the host of interesting characters in the downstairs world. It takes about a million maids, footmen, butlers, chefs, and others to create the luxe Regency life the Bridgertons have grown accustomed to, and we haven\u2019t previously seen much of these fine, hardworking folks.<\/p>\n

Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha) has been a maid for her stepmother, Lady Araminta Gun (Katie Leung), for quite some time now and has found family in her fellow colleagues. There\u2019s Alfie (David Moorst), a sarcastic, witty footman at Penwood House. He\u2019s always ready to come to Sophie\u2019s defense when Lady Araminta releases her daggers with an insult or petty ask. Irma Gibbons (Fiona Marr) is a tough cook who has had to build a fortress around her heart in order to deal with her employer. But Irma shows Sophie a kind of softness, a vulnerability \u2014 shall we even go so far as to say love? \u2014 that is only afforded to her. Then there\u2019s Hazel, a new friend to Sophie, played by Gracie McGonigal. Hazel\u2019s upbeat nature hides what she\u2019s endured, but over time she becomes an excellent companion for our heroine.<\/p>\n

Over at Bridgerton House, we learn more about the charming footman John (Oli Higginson), who has appeared in all three of the previous seasons of Bridgerton. John is the heartthrob of the downstairs world, adding a bit of delight and levity to what is tireless work. The good-natured, though slightly distracted, maid Celia (Sophie Lamont) has been a constant in Bridgerton House and is a right hand to the unflappable Mrs. Wilson (Geraldine Alexander).<\/p>\n

Over at My Cottage, we have Mr. and Mrs. Crabtree. Played by Billy Boyle and Susan Brown, these two are like family to Benedict Bridgerton. Mr. Crabtree is the kind groundskeeper of the estate who adores (but is perhaps slightly afraid of) his wife. Mrs. Crabtree doesn\u2019t sugarcoat anything; her no-nonsense attitude keeps things moving at My Cottage.<\/p>\n
