The actress, 40, caught up with PEOPLE exclusively while on the red carpet for the action thriller\u2019s New York premiere at Alice Tully Hall on Tuesday, Jan. 13. During the conversation, Esco \u2014 who plays Captain Jackie Velez in the film \u2014\u00a0said that bedroom scenes with Affleck, 53, often resulted in goofy fun and \u201cdorking around.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cWe were giggling,\u201d Esco recalled. \u201cWe were just two dorks, dorking around.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cBen is just such a sweet man and easygoing, it’s just easy,\u201d she continued, adding, \u201cSometimes you don’t run into people that are easy, and I can honestly say it just felt [like an] easygoing set energy, which is very rare.\u201d<\/p>\n

She went on to say that Affleck, along with the entire crew, fostered an extremely welcoming and positive on-set experience.<\/p>\n
\u201cI would say just the energy and the tone on set was very lowkey, very down to earth,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

And so is the director [Joe Carnahan]<\/a>. He just made sure everyone was comfortable at all times, played soundtrack music at all times, pushed you into the tone and the mood of the film. I was like, \u2018Oh my God. I want to be in this movie.\u2019 And then obviously you have to go and get the role and it was a few tryouts,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n Esco said she ended up having a Zoom call with the director, which she described as an \u201cincredible\u201d experience.<\/p>\n \u201cIt was love at first sight. It was like ‘Wow.’ And he said, ‘Come and join me on this journey.’ I never knew it was going to be like this \u2014 and here I am. And when I went to see a first cut of the film I was in love.
