Ethiopian runners Tadu Abate and Yeshi Chekole won the men\u2019s and women\u2019s elite races, respectively, at the Mumbai Marathon 2026 on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Tadu Abate claimed his fourth international full marathon title after clocking 2:09:55 to win the men\u2019s race, while Yeshi Chekole finished with a time of 2:25:13 to bag the women’s elite crown.<\/p>\n
Runners from Ethiopia claimed the top six spots in the women\u2019s elite race. Kidsan Alema Ghebremedin (2:27:35) finished second while Gojjam Tsegaye Enyew (2:28:27) came in third.<\/p>\n
Ethiopia\u2019s Medina Armino, who finished third in last year\u2019s Mumbai Marathon, came fifth with 2:33:02.<\/p>\n
In the men\u2019s elite race, Kenya\u2019s Leonard Langat finished in second spot behind Tadu Abate with a time of 2:10:10. Eritrea\u2019s Merhawi Kesete, who finished second last year, was third after crossing the finish line in 2:10:22. Uganda\u2019s Victor Kiplangat, the 2023 world champion, came fifth with a time of 2:11:02.<\/p>\n
Indian runners at Mumbai Marathon 2026<\/p>\n
Among Indian elite runners, Sanjivani Jadhav denied Nirmaben Thakor a hat-trick of Mumbai Marathon titles on her course debut. She took the top spot among Indian elite women with a time of 2:48:58.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Nirmaben Thakor and Sonam finished second and third with timings of 2:49:07 and 2:49:21, respectively.\u00a0<\/p>\n
