\n\tSylvester Stallone<\/a> has a new memoir coming next year, and in the meantime he\u2019s making the rounds ahead of the season premiere of \u201cTulsa King<\/a>\u201d and weighing in on some of his classic films. <\/p>\n

\n\tA \u201cJohn Rambo\u201d origin story movie<\/a> is already underway starring Noah Centineo. But although Stallone wasn\u2019t involved in the plans for that one, he told The Playlist\u2019s Bingeworthy podcast<\/a> that he previously had his own idea for a \u201cRambo\u201d prequel. <\/p>\n

\n\tHe had pitched it as an AI experiment that would de-age him back to a teenager, he told the podcast. \u201cEveryone thought I was crazy,\u201d he remembered. \u201cAI is sophisticated enough to go through Saigon to see him at 18 years old and basically use the same image. So it isn\u2019t as big a stretch.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPlaying John Rambo won\u2019t be easy for any other actor, Stallone predicted, because he has become so identified with the role. \u201cIt\u2019s very, very hard. He may do a stellar job, but you\u2019re overcoming this because I went through it with \u2018Get Carter.\u2019 Everyone loves the original, and then you\u2019re always fighting that prejudice.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBut \u201cJohn Rambo\u201d isn\u2019t the only upcoming film based on an iconic Stallone title. Peter Farrelly is directing <\/a>the \u201cRocky\u201d making-of drama \u201cI Play Rocky,\u201d with Anthony Ippolito starring as the underdog boxer. But Stallone said he was caught off-guard when he first heard about it. \u201cI was shocked to read [about] it,\u201d he said. \u201cI have zero to do with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cSince I lived it, I thought I might be able to participate and give them some insight,\u201d he said, though that seems unlikely, since the script is reportedly finished. <\/p>\n

\n\tHis memoir \u201cThe Steps\u201d will arrive on May 5. According to the synopsis, \u201cIn a narrative framed between his arrival in New York City in 1969 and the triumph of Rocky at the 1977 Academy Awards, Stallone weaves a vivid and propulsive portrait of struggle, subsistence, and ultimately success. He writes of his early days and later years, too, and the persistence, creativity, and resilience that led not only to the creation of Rocky but to a career filled with remarkably iconic roles.\u201d<\/p>\n
