After all, this is a\u00a0woman known just as much for her philanthropic efforts as for her music, from\u00a0helping to fund one of the Covid vaccines<\/a>\u00a0to\u00a0sending free books<\/a>\u00a0to kids around the country to encourage reading.<\/p>\n Ahead of her 80th birthday on Monday,\u00a0Parton released a new version of her 1977 single \u201cLight of a Clear Blue Morning,\u201d which this time around includes fellow singers Lainey Wilson, Queen Latifah, Reba McEntire and Parton\u2019s goddaughter, Miley Cyrus.<\/p>\n It also features famed composer\/producer David Foster on piano and The Christ Church Choir in a version that, according to Parton\u2019s website, \u201creimagines the song with a message of spreading love and hope.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cOriginally written and recorded 50 years ago in 1976 during a period of personal transition and renewed optimism, \u2018Light of a Clear Blue Morning\u2019 has long stood as one of Dolly\u2019s most inspirational works,\u201d\u00a0a post on the site reads.\u00a0<\/a>\u201cNow, five decades later, Dolly revisits the song for a new generation with a powerhouse lineup of female voices.\u201d<\/p>\n Proceeds from both the song and the music video will be donated to benefit pediatric cancer research at the Monroe Carell Jr. Children\u2019s Hospital at Vanderbilt in Nashville, Tennessee.<\/p>\n The state of Tennessee, home to both Parton and her Dollywood theme park, has honored the singer, songwriter and actress by declaring Monday as \u201cDolly Parton Day.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cDolly Parton\u2019s life and career is woven into Tennessee\u2019s music, culture, and rich history,\u201d Governor Bill Lee said as part of\u00a0his proclamation declaring January 19, 2026 as \u201cDolly Parton Day\u201d in Tennessee.\u00a0<\/a>\u201cHer talent and generosity have made a lasting impact on the world, and it is fitting that we honor her 80th birthday by celebrating her remarkable legacy and dedication to the Volunteer State.\u201d<\/p>\n It\u2019s a bright spot for both Parton and fans, as some of the latter grew concerned after she\u00a0canceled a series of December concerts<\/a>\u00a0in Las Vegas due to health concerns and her younger sister, Freida Parton, publicly requested prayers for her big sister.<\/p>\n
