Islanders were squinting at the sky this morning in hope of catching a glimpse of a famously tanned orange face and straw-like hair as Donald Trump flew over the Channel Islands.<\/p>\n

The US president was on his way to Davos in Switzerland aboard a backup plane, after a technical issue forced Air Force One to return to Joint Base Andrews last night.<\/p>\n

The presidential plane was in the air Tuesday evening when it turned around due to a \u201cminor electrical issue\u201d, according to the White House. <\/p>\n

Open-source flight tracking data from ADS-B Exchange<\/a> shows Air Force One making a turn over the Atlantic Ocean off the easternmost tip of Long Island, over an hour into the flight.<\/p>\n

The plane landed safely in Maryland last night and Trump was wheels-up in a new aircraft roughly an hour later.<\/p>\n
