Prince William and Princess Kate have taken another step towards reducing their environmental impact as they have fitted a \u00a3200 device inside all three of their royal residences.<\/p>\n

The Waleses have added the new advanced technology to their washing machines in Forest Lodge, Apartment 1A, Kensington Place, and Anmer Hall. <\/p>\n

The filters added to the machines work to catch microplastics that come from clothes.<\/p>\n

They are created by the brand Matter, who are a climate technology company aim to tackle the growing global problem of microplastic pollution. <\/p>\n

The company was a 2025 Earthshot Prize Finalist and is based in Bristol, with Prince William visiting their headquarters on Thursday.<\/p>\n

William will receive a hands-on demonstration of the domestic filtration system at their West Country base.<\/p>\n

He will also talk about how the brand plans to scale up. The new device comes in two different forms, the first is a filter that can be bought via Bosch for \u00a3199 to add to pre-existing washing machines, or a new washing machine with the filter built in. <\/p>\n

Following his trip to Matter, the prince will head to the NCC, where he will be shown the Isambard-Al Supercomputer.<\/p>\n

During the visit, William will meet with scientists from the University of Bristol who are using the supercomputer to develop new drugs to combat heart disease, Alzheimer\u2019s, and cancer.<\/p>\n

The computer is also capable of predicting extreme weather events, another function that will be showcased for the prince. <\/p>\n

The Prince of Wales will then be shown a paracanoe seat developed for Paralympic champion Emma Wiggs MBE, who won Gold and Silver at Paris 2024<\/p>\n

The lighter, five-times-stiffer seat improved power transfer and speed and was made using digital tools and embedded sensors.<\/p>\n

The visit to Bristol comes just a day after it was announced by Kensington Palace that the prince will make a trip to Saudi Arabia. <\/p>\n

The trip will be the future king\u2019s first official trip to Saudi Arabia, and the trip will be from February 9th to 11th.<\/p>\n

The visit underscores deepening commercial, energy, and investment partnerships between Britain and Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n
