\n\tEXCLUSIVE: More good news for Brazil which earlier today scored four Oscar nominations for The Secret Agent. The country\u2019s 2017 medical drama Sob Press\u00e3o (Under Pressure<\/a>) is being adapted by ABC.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe U.S. version, also titled Under Pressure, comes from three former executive producers of ABC\u2019s long-running medical drama The Good Doctor, David Shore<\/a>, who created the series based on a Korean format and served as showrunner, Jessica Grasl<\/a> and Garrett Lerner<\/a>. If Under Pressure, which is now in development, moves forward, it would mark Shore\u2019s third broadcast medical drama series after The Good Doctor and House. <\/p>\n

\n\tWritten by Grasl and Lerner based on the format by Conspira\u00e7\u00e3o, Under Pressure is a medical drama set at All Saints Hospital, an under-staffed and under-resourced hospital in Savannah, Georgia. At the heart of the hospital is CAM, a surgeon and man of faith who cares deeply for his patients and community. But beyond just the medical cases, the show will focus on a complicated love triangle. It will have all the \u201cwill they-won\u2019t they\u201d tension and push and pull of a \u201ctraditional\u201d soapy, love story, but with a twist that will leave the audience redefining their ideas of love, loss, and faith.<\/p>\n

\n\tWith its setting at an under-staffed and under-resourced hospital in a midsize American city, Under Pressure inevitably draws parallels to HBO Max\u2019s Emmy-winning The Pitt, which has been leading the current medical drama resurgence.<\/p>\n

\n\tGrasl and Lerner executive produce alongside David Shore and Erin Gunn of Shore Z Prods., Alon Aranya of Paper Plane Productions as well as Renata Brand\u00e3o and Tereza Gonzalez of Conspira\u00e7\u00e3o. <\/p>\n

\n\t20th Television, where Shore and his Shore Z Prods. are under an overall deal, is the studio. <\/p>\n

\n\tThe Sob Press\u00e3o series, based on the 2016 film of the same name (which, in turn, was inspired by a book by M\u00e1rcio Maranh\u00e3o), premiered on TV Globo in 2017 and ran for five seasons as a co-production between Conspira\u00e7\u00e3o Filmes and TV Globo.<\/p>\n

\n\tBefore joining 20th TV in 2024, Shore was at Sony Pictures TV where he created and executive produced The Good Doctor for its entire seven-season run on ABC. Prior to that, he was at Universal Television where he created and executive produced House, which aired on Fox for eight seasons. Shore\u2019s work on House earned him an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series, as well as four Outstanding Drama Series nominations, a Humanitas Prize, a Peabody, and a WGA Award. He is repped by CAA, The Shuman Co. and attorney Bill Sobel.<\/p>\n

\n\tGrasl was co-executive producer on The Good Doctor for three seasons before getting promoted to EP for the series\u2019 final season. She most recently was a co-executive producer on Ryan Murphy\u2019s ABC series Doctor Odyssey. Grasl is repped by 3 Arts Entertainment and UTA.<\/p>\n

\n\tGarrett was an executive producer on Seasons 6 and 7 of The Good Doctor and spent seven seasons on House as co-executive producer and executive producer. He is currently a co-showrunner and executive producer on It\u2019s Not Like That for Amazon after just wrapping as an executive producer on Netflix\u2019s Midnight Sun . Lerner is repped by UTA and Johnson Shapiro Slewett & Kole.<\/p>\n

\n\tPaper Plane Productions, which Aranya launched in 2018, has produced such series as Apple TV\u2019s Tehran, Showtime\u2019s Your Honor and Sundance Now\u2019s The Vanishing Triangle. His producing credits also include ABC\u2019s Red Widow and Betrayal and CBS\u2019 Hostages.
