Audi have announced the launch of their Driver Development Programme ahead of the manufacturer\u2019s first season as a works outfit in Formula 1, with the initiative set to be directed by former F1 driver Allan McNish.<\/p>\n
Identified as a key part of the team\u2019s strategy to build a competitive Formula 1 team by investing in young talent on and off the track, the programme will scout and support promising young drivers from karting and junior formula series, providing a clear path to the top echelon of motorsport.<\/p>\n
Members of the Driver Development Programme will receive world-class training and mentorship as part of a bespoke programme, covering various aspects from on-track performance and driving and engineering development, through to human performance and media and marketing.<\/p>\n
McNish brings a wealth of experience to his role with the programme. Along with his racing background \u2013 which includes an F1 stint with Toyota in 2002 and three 24 Hours of Le Mans victories \u2013 the Scot has worked in team management roles and has held a long-standing relationship with the Audi<\/a> brand.<\/p>\n \u201cTo be entrusted with finding the cornerstones of the future Audi Revolut F1 Team is a great honour and a responsibility I am very passionate about,\u201d said McNish. \u201cThis brand is built on a history of ‘Vorsprung durch Technik’, and that philosophy must apply to our young drivers as much as to our cars.<\/p>\n \u201cWe are not just looking for raw speed; we are looking for the resilience, intelligence, and team-driven mindset that defines a future Audi champion.
