\n\tMany of the Oscar contenders<\/a> for best picture will return to the big screen before Hollywood\u2019s biggest night. A few of them are even coming back to beloved Imax 70mm screens, Variety can exclusively report.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhile specific dates have yet to be announced, \u201cSinners<\/a>\u201d will return to select Imax 70mm screens during its Oscar run and potentially beyond, sources tell Variety. \u201cSinners\u201d is the only film between Christopher Nolan\u2019s \u201cOppenheimer\u201d and the upcoming \u201cOdyssey\u201d to be shot with Imax film cameras. Ryan Coogler shot the movie on 70mm film and, before its release, he educated audiences on the different aspect ratios and the importance of Imax screens. With 16 Oscar nods, \u201cSinners\u201d became the most-nominated film of all time, surpassing 14-time nominees \u201cAll About Eve,\u201d\u00a0\u201cTitanic\u201d and\u00a0\u201cLa La Land.\u201d Coogler is nominated for best director, and Michael B. Jordan is up for best actor for his performance of twins Smoke and Stack.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cOne Battle After Another<\/a>\u201d will also return to select IMAX 70mm locations in the coming weeks. The Paul Thomas Anderson film scored 13 Oscar nominations, including for actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Teyana Taylor, Benicio del Toro and Sean Penn. Warner Bros. is the studio behind both \u201cOne Battle After Another\u201d and \u201cSinners.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tA24 announced on Thursday that its nine-time Oscar nominee \u201cMarty Supreme\u201d will get a nationwide Imax run starting Jan. 30. The Josh Safdie film, which is the studio\u2019s highest-grossing domestic release, stars Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet as a ping pong superstar opposite Odessa A\u2019zion, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kevin O\u2019Leary and Tyler, the Creator.<\/p>\n

\n\tNetflix\u2019s best picture contender \u201cFrankenstein\u201d had a brief return to cinemas for one week before Oscar nominations, including a stop at the TLC Chinese Imax in Los Angeles. And while there are no concrete plans, Variety hears \u201cF1\u201d is exploring a potential return to Imax 70mm screens. Apple\u2019s Brad Pitt racing blockbuster landed four Oscar nods, including for best picture.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt\u2019s a big year for Imax, with blockbusters and auteur films over-indexing on the company\u2019s screens.
