\n\tCasey Bloys, senior Netflix<\/a> executive?<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a lengthy interview<\/a> with Ben Thompson of Stratechery, Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters<\/a> said he and (fellow co-CEO) Ted Sarandos plan to keep \u201cthat HBO<\/a> team\u201d in tact post-acquisition<\/a>. It\u2019s a smart move considering what Bloys and co.<\/a> have accomplished, and while expected by most sharps in the industry, had not previously been affirmed so definitively.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhat Netflix plans to do with HBO\/Max from an integration POV is still a bit unclear.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen asked if HBO (Max) and Netflix will be one service or two following Netflix\u2019s pending purchase of Warner Bros., Peters replied, \u201cThis is the kind of thing we would want to sort out and we\u2019ve got some thinking [to do].\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to do some more work on that one,\u201d Peters continued. \u201cWe know from our work in doing this with other providers that there are benefits. We can make a win-win. We can make a better product for consumers, lower price ultimately, and it works better for the business \u2014 we know that that\u2019s capable.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tNetflix hasn\u2019t actually integrated another streamer into its own service before, but it has bundled with various others recently. And Netflix and AMC have a running pact<\/a> in which a variety of AMC and AMC Studios programming is available \u2014 and spotlighted \u2014 on Netflix under an \u201cAMC Collection\u201d banner.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhether it ends up as NetflixHBOMax, Netflix + HBO Max<\/a>, or an \u201cHBO Collection\u201d on Netflix, Peters knows talent when he sees it. He plans to keep the \u201cHBO team,\u201d the one his co-CEO Sarandos has been battling for years for the best content, on board. The statement of confidence came in response to a question about keeping HBO HBO.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel very confident about that because we\u2019re going to keep that HBO team and that HBO team is good at working with that talent and giving them the environment that they need to tell those amazing stories,\u201d Peters said. \u201cAnd they get to do it under a great brand that speaks to the kind of program they\u2019re trying to make, and we\u2019re going to give them a bigger audience.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIt sounds like Bloys\u2019 (HBO CEO) and Francesca Orsi\u2019s (executive vice president of HBO programming and head of HBO drama series and films) jobs \u2014 and probably others\u2019 \u2014 are safe.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn November, when asked by The Hollywood Reporter about his job security under a takeover \u2014 at the time, Paramount was in pole position \u2014 Bloys shrugged it off.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI had a town hall a couple weeks ago, and I said, \u2018The only thing you can do in this process, and the best thing you can do, is just focus on your job, which is making the most impactful programming in whatever genre,\u2019\u201d Bloys said at the time.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s kind of a waste of energy, because I don\u2019t know what\u2019s going to happen,\u201d Bloys added. \u201cNow, that being said, I\u2019m obviously very proud of what we\u2019ve done at HBO and HBO Max. I would like to see that continue. We\u2019ve all worked at HBO for a long time. I\u2019m proud of our track record, but you have to go into these processes with an open mind. And a lot of it is out of our hands.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPeters is apparently doing something of a limited media tour targeting financial publications in response to Netflix\u2019s stock (NFLX) hitting a 52-week low. Wall Street has not exactly been enamored with the plan for Netflix to buy Warner Bros. studios and streaming (and HBO) for what is now an all-cash offer<\/a> valued at $83 billion. No one is less in love with the plan than David Ellison, the chairman of Paramount Skydance, who put out a competing bid. Ellison wants the entirety of Warner Bros. Discovery and is willing to pay $108 billion for the total package.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a separate conversation with The Financial Times, Peters said Paramount\u2019s offer \u201cdoesn\u2019t pass the sniff test.\u201d<\/a> Paramount backer RedBird Capital took exception to that \u2014 read that back-and-forth here<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Casey Bloys, senior Netflix executive?
