The eagles&#8217; nesting season runs from January through April.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Jackie and Shadow raised little eaglets in 2019 and 2022, but struggled to have any hatchlings the following years.<\/p>\n<p>However, in 2025,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/news\/jackie-shadow-eagle-egg-watch-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Big Bear&#8217;s<\/a> famous eagle couple welcomed their latest batch of eaglets, sisters <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/losangeles\/news\/big-bear-eaglets-sunny-gizmo-sisters\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Sunny and Gizmo.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>It typically takes 35 days for eggs to hatch, but the nonprofit Friends of Big Bear Valley said Jackie and Shadow&#8217;s have historically taken a bit longer, roughly 38-39 days.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, Sandy Steers, biologist and executive director of Friends of Big Bear Valley, said once the chicks hatch, it will take 10-14 weeks until the little eaglets grow to about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/losangeles\/news\/big-bear-nest-hatch-2-baby-eaglets-jackie-shadow-parents\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">3 feet tall.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/losangeles\/news\/big-bear-eaglet-flight-nest-sunny-gizmo\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-invalid-url-rewritten-http=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Sunny and Gizmo<\/a> took a few months before taking their first flights from their nest last June.<\/p>\n<p>The family and their nest in the San Bernardino National Forest became world-famous after the Friends of Big Bear Valley installed a camera for its livestream on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=B4-L2nfGcuE\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">YouTube.<\/a>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said bald eagles mate for life, with each living up to about 30 years in the wild.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\n        More from CBS News\n      <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Big Bear bald eagles Jackie and Shadow welcomed their first egg of the nesting season on Friday. \u00a0&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":255842,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[26],"tags":[85,46,141,386],"class_list":["post-255841","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-wildlife","tag-il","tag-israel","tag-science","tag-wildlife"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/255841","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=255841"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/255841\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/255842"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=255841"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=255841"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=255841"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
