Pharmaceuticals topped Greece\u2019s industrial exports in the third quarter of 2025, with 78% destined for European countries, the Foundation for Economic and Industrial Research (IOBE) reported. Exports of pharmaceuticals, including medicines and consumables, reached \u20ac675 million, up 6.3% from the same period last year.<\/p>\n
Aluminum exports followed at \u20ac650 million, rising 0.8%, while dairy products remained strong at \u20ac476 million. Canned fruits and vegetables exports totaled \u20ac470 million, and oils and fats reached \u20ac263 million.<\/p>\n
Authorities said 78% of industrial products, excluding refined petroleum, were shipped to European countries, with 64.1% going to the 27 European Union member states, while 7.2% went to the Middle East and North Africa, 6.6% to North America, and 4.8% to Asia.<\/p>\n
Pharmaceutical exports in 2024 totaled \u20ac2.8 billion, stable compared with 2023 but slightly below 2021 levels of \u20ac2.9 billion, when exports surged during the pandemic. Imports of pharmaceuticals fell 1.8% to \u20ac4.3 billion in 2024, keeping the trade deficit at \u20ac1.5 billion, down from \u20ac1.6 billion the previous year.<\/p>\n
Data from the recent IOBE-SFEE study showed Germany was the top destination for Greek pharmaceutical exports in 2024 with an 11.7% share, though values fell, while Austria ranked second with 8.2%, seeing a 17.7% increase in export value. Cyprus and France followed, with exports to France declining 47.2%.
