A new Dragon Ball<\/a> anime project titled Dragon Ball Super: Beerus was just announced in celebration of the franchise’s 40th anniversary.<\/p>\n

The announcement came at Dragon Ball’s Genkidamatsuri conference. The new project is an anime series expected to be released in Fall of 2026, and looks to remake parts of Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods and the first arc of Dragon Ball Super.<\/p>\n

The announcement teased that Dragon Ball Super: Beerus will enhance the story of Battle of Gods, giving more buildup to the climactic battle between Goku and Beerus.<\/p>\n

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus seems to confirm the fan theory that Dragon Ball’s next anime was going to be a remake of Super. While fans dreaded the idea of a Kai-style remaster of Super, supplanting a continuation of the manga, Dragon Ball Super: Galactic Patrol was also confirmed<\/a> at the Genkidamatsuri event, putting those fears to bed.<\/p>\n

With the future of Dragon Ball Super’s anime ensured, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus seems like a win for fans. Far from a remaster, this looks like a ground-up remake, and that’s something that should get every fan excited.<\/p>\n

Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Can Fix The Franchise’s Past Mistakes<\/p>\n

Dragon Ball Super had a bit of a rocky development. Early episodes of Dragon Ball Super were plagued by poor animation. The animation quality was so poor that even Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama himself commented on it.<\/a><\/p>\n

I had put Dragon Ball behind me, but seeing how much that live-action film ticked me off, and how I revised that script for the anime movie and complained about the quality of the TV anime, I suppose somewhere along the line it\u2019s become a series I like too much to ever leave alone.<\/p>\n

Given this, Dragon Ball Super definitely needed a facelift, and that’s exactly what Beerus appears to be.<\/p>\n

Possibly even more exciting is the prospect of the anime putting a bigger spotlight on Beerus. He’s one of the best new characters to come out of the franchise since it was revived, so getting a little more time with the eccentric God of Destruction should be a treat.<\/p>\n

All of this adds up to making Dragon Ball Super: Beerus a remake that fans will have good reason to check out.<\/p>\n
