{"id":256987,"date":"2026-01-25T14:44:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-25T14:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/256987\/"},"modified":"2026-01-25T14:44:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-25T14:44:07","slug":"home-hero-manuel-feller-wins-mens-slalom-in-kitzbuhel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/256987\/","title":{"rendered":"Home hero Manuel Feller wins men&#8217;s slalom in Kitzb\u00fchel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An emotional <a href=\"https:\/\/www.olympics.com\/en\/athletes\/feller\" target=\"_blank\" node=\"[object Object]\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Manuel\u00a0Feller<\/a> achieved his childhood dream of winning the men&#8217;s slalom at the\u00a0FIS\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.olympics.com\/en\/sports\/alpine-skiing\" node=\"[object Object]\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Alpine Skiing<\/a> World Cup in Kitzb\u00fchel, Austria, on Sunday (25 January.)<\/p>\n<p>In clear, cold conditions, the home favourite was fourth after the first run.<\/p>\n<p>Knowing he needed to go all out in the second, the 33-year-old executed an ultra-aggressive top section before showing huge mental and physical strength to recover from a wide turn\u00a0to clock 1.60.40 overall and take top spot.<\/p>\n<p>A nervous wait in the leader&#8217;s chair followed as his rivals tried and failed to topple his time.<\/p>\n<p>Run 1 leader <a href=\"https:\/\/www.olympics.com\/en\/athletes\/meillard\" target=\"_blank\" node=\"[object Object]\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Loic Meillard<\/a> of Switzerland finished second (+0.35 back), while\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.olympics.com\/en\/athletes\/strasser\" target=\"_blank\" node=\"[object Object]\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Linus Strasser<\/a> of Germany completed the podium in third (+0.53 back), and an emotional\u00a0Feller, who has had an inconsistent season, sank to his knees and celebrated with the crowd.<\/p>\n<p>Lucas Pinheiro Braathen of Brazil finished fourth.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I can&#8217;t describe how much this means to me,&#8221; Feller said after, fighting back tears of joy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It&#8217;s probably been my toughest season and one of the toughest parts of my life. I was close to quitting a few times as I didn&#8217;t have the energy but I kept on going as this has never been an option in my life.
