Born in Nigr\u00e1n, Spain, on 12th January 2008, Pedro Fern\u00e1ndez Sarmiento \u2013 nicknamed \u201cDro\u201d \u2013 began his footballing career with his hometown team, ED Val Mi\u00f1or Nigr\u00e1n, at the age of four. Then, in 2022, he joined FC Barcelona, where the versatile midfielder would continue his development over the course of three seasons and quickly establish himself thanks to his technical quality, his vision and his ability to play between the lines.<\/p>\n
During the 2024\u20132025 season, despite being aged just 16, Fern\u00e1ndez was promoted to Bar\u00e7a\u2019s U19 men\u2019s team and became one of the key architects behind the side\u2019s UEFA Youth League triumph by contributing his creativity, his accuracy in the final third and his ability to play forwards. He would make a total of seven appearances in the competition, scoring two goals in the process \u2013 including one in a 4-2 win over BSC Young Boys \u2013 whilst also playing a part in the Catalan club\u2019s Divisi\u00f3n de Honor Juvenil and Copa del Rey Juvenil double last year.<\/p>\n
Fern\u00e1ndez shone particularly brightly during Bar\u00e7a\u2019s subsequent summer tour of Japan, where his technical proficiency and his adaptability at the highest level were confirmed, as he scored his first goal for the Blaugrana\u2019s senior team against Vissel Kobe on 27th July 2025. Then, in September, he made his competitive professional debut in a 2-1 win over Real Sociedad, which would be the first of his five official appearances for the side. On top of his four matches in La Liga, he also featured once in the UEFA Champions League, notching up his first professional assist in a 6-1 win over Olympiacos FC on 21st October 2025.<\/p>\n
Internationally, \u201cDro\u201d has regularly been called up to his country\u2019s youth teams. With Spain\u2019s U17s, he registered four goals in nine games and was especially illustrious during their 2025 UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifying campaign, during which he made three appearances and scored the winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Norway in March last year.
