\n\tWhile jokes are Jimmy Kimmel<\/a>\u2018s trade, the late-night host is known for wearing his emotions on his sleeve and turning serious after a tragic event. He did it again on Monday\u2019s Jimmy Kimmel Live<\/a>, breaking down twice during his opening monologue, the majority of which was dedicated to the killing by federal agents of Minneapolis ICU nurse Alex Pretti<\/a>. There were no laughs, with the audience remaining silent and punctuating parts of Kimmel\u2019s speech with a big applause. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI spent the weekend, like probably a lot of you did \u2013 looking at my phone \u2013 and just feeling shocked \u2013 and sick \u2013 about what is happening in Minneapolis,\u201d Kimmel said at the start of the monologue. \u201cOne video after another. Screaming people being torn from their families, Americans \u2013- people who were born in the United States \u2014 being pulled out of their cars for the crime of having an accent or whatever, children \u2013- small children, babies \u2014 being tear-gassed, taken into custody, separated from their parents. Just one atrocity after another, being committed by this gang of poorly-trained, shamefully-led, mask-wearing goons. And that is what they are \u2013 they\u2019re goons committing vile, heartless, and even criminal acts.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd it\u2019s sickening to watch, and it\u2019s frustrating to watch. It\u2019s like we\u2019re all being forced to play a game that has no rules. They just make up the rules as they go along.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe see these videos \u2013 in which we clearly see one of our fellow Americans executed by ICE \u2013 and they won\u2019t even admit that it was a mistake! They say the Honda SUV Renee Good was driving was \u2018weaponized\u2019, they say the gun Alex Pretti had a license to carry in an open carry state \u2013- a right many of these same people screamed very loud about when it was Kyle Rittenhouse carrying the gun \u2013- a gun that Alex Pretti did not even draw, did not touch, a gun that was taken from him by one of the agents \u2013 before he was shot dead by the other ones. They fired ten times onto an ICU nurse, they\u2019re telling us, \u2018well, it was justified, you know?\u2019<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cIs that the law and order that you voted for, if you voted for this? Every day is a nightmare now. My wife and I have family in Minneapolis. They\u2019re afraid to take their kids to school. They\u2019re afraid to go to work. And I can only imagine how people who aren\u2019t white feel about this!<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHow does this end? What\u2019s the plan here? Is the plan to just keep doing this in every city that didn\u2019t vote for Donald Trump? Does anyone on any side believe this is good leadership?<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe keep saying we need to find subjects that we can agree on. Can we agree that peaceful protestors -\u2013 including moms driving SUVs on their way back after dropping their six-year-old off at school and a nurse who stepped in to protect a woman from harm \u2013- don\u2019t deserve to be shot dead in the street by the people we are paying to protect us? Can we agree on that? Can we agree that when we see a person murdered in cold blood, that there should at least be an investigation of that?,\u201d Kimmel said to a big applause. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd that our ironically titled \u2018head of homeland security\u2019 has the responsibility to get facts before telling us that what we saw, we did not see? If we can\u2019t agree on that, forget it then.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tA little later, Kimmel added, \u201cLet\u2019s cut the bullshit already. If that was ISIS, instead of ICE, we\u2019d be firing missiles at somebody and pledging allegiance to the flag all together right now.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWatch that video, watch every angle, as upsetting as it might be, and decide for yourself if that\u2019s making America great. And if it isn\u2019t, please say something about it.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThis has to stop. And I\u2019m convinced now that the only people who can stop it are on the right. I know it takes a lot of courage to go against your \u2018tribe\u2019 or whatever it is but that\u2019s what we need, we need some decent people on the right to show some courage -\u2013 and some common sense.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd if our leaders aren\u2019t even trying to reduce the amount of chaos in the street rather than exacerbating it, if our leaders are intentionally creating and encouraging violence and fear, then I hope you will also agree, we need new leaders. Because these are not leaders,\u201d Kimmel said to more applause. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAnd to the people of Minneapolis \u2013 to the Pretti family and the Good family and these people who were looking out for their neighbors, we want you to know that we are with you and you are not alone,\u201d Kimmel said, all chocked up before adding, \u201cI\u2019ll tell you another thing \u2014 we also want to see those Epstein files already.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tKimmel closed his monologue by paying tribute to Pretti, \u201cthe man Stephen Miller referred to as a would-be assassin.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAlex Pretti was an ICU nurse who treated veterans, which is about as patriotic as it gets.\u201d Fighting back tears, Kimmel played a video of Pretti honoring a patient of his, a veteran, who had passed away. He ended his speech with \u201cAlex Pretti, may he rest in peace.\u201d<\/p>\n
