Kanye West is opening up about how his bipolar disorder affected his relationship with loved ones.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Vanity Fair<\/a>, published Tuesday, January 27, the rapper, 48 \u2014 who also goes by Ye \u2014 reflected on his very public manic episode in 2025 and was asked, \u201cHave you treated people in your personal life in any ways you regret? How have you made amends?\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEvery day that I wake up, it\u2019s a checklist of everything that I said \u2014 at least what I can recall \u2014 while in a bipolar episode,\u201d West, who shares kids North, 12, Saint, 10, Chicago, 8, and Psalm, 6, with ex-wife<\/a> Kim Kardashian, explained. \u201cAll of the family bonds, deep relationships, and lifelong friendships that I worked so hard to build over so many years were all tarnished by all of the horrible statements that I made so impulsively.\u201d<\/p>\n

Over the years \u2014 seemingly amid his bipolar episodes \u2014 Kanye has trashed the Skims founder, 45,<\/a> as well as other members of the Kardashian-Jenner family on social media. Despite this, the Grammy winner reportedly spent the holidays with Kim and their kids, according to sources who spoke to TMZ<\/a>. The outlet reported the pair were cordial with one another and are focused on co-parenting.<\/p>\n

The reality TV star appeared on the Call Her Daddy <\/a>podcast in October and revealed she raises the kids \u201cfull-time,\u201d<\/a> noting, \u201cIt\u2019s probably been a couple months since we\u2019ve heard from him [Kanye].\u201d<\/p>\n

As Globe reported<\/a> on Monday, January 26, the musician took out a print ad in The Wall Street Journal, where he discussed his mental illness and apologized for his rampant antisemitism.<\/p>\n

\u201cI lost touch with reality. Things got worse the longer I ignored the problem. I said and did things I deeply regret. Some of the people I love the most, I treated the worst,\u201d he wrote, per Vanity Fair<\/a>. \u201cYou endured fear, confusion, humiliation, and the exhaustion of trying to have someone who was, at times, unrecognizable. Looking back, I became detached from my true self.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI regret and am deeply mortified by my actions in that state, and am committed to accountability, treatment, and meaningful change,\u201d he also wrote in the letter. \u201cIt does not excuse what I did though. I am not a Nazi or an antisemite. I love Jewish people.\u201d<\/p>\n
