Al Roker<\/a> has a low chance of inactivity in his forecast.<\/p>\n

As the veteran weatherman continues to celebrate his 30th anniversary at Today<\/a>, he shared his thoughts on retiring from the NBC morning show in the future. <\/p>\n

\u201cWell, let\u2019s put it this way. I haven\u2019t thought about retirement,\u201d Al told People<\/a> in an interview published Jan. 27. \u201cI love what I do. I feel good. I love this job. I love doing it. At some point, I guess I won\u2019t be. But I don\u2019t feel like that\u2019s anytime soon, so I\u2019m just gonna keep going.\u201d<\/p>\n

Indeed, the 71-year-old\u2014who shares kids Courtney<\/a>, 36, with late ex-wife Alice Bell<\/a>, as well as Leila, 27, and Nick<\/a>, 23, with Deborah Roberts\u2014has been on an iconic run since becoming Today\u2019s weather reporter in 1996. And while the show has gone through several changes over the years, he\u2019s thankful his role is still a reliable segment that viewers can watch. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think that\u2019s the beauty of the broadcast is that the mission over these 74 years has not changed,\u201d Al explained. \u201cThe fact of the matter is we are each temporary custodians of this legacy. At some point, I won\u2019t be part of the show. Somebody else will be, but to be part of a pretty cool club is very special.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued, \u201cTo say that this was a dream job isn\u2019t really accurate, because it never dawned on me that I could be on the Today show.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Al eventually learned to drown out that skepticism. After all, his colleagues Savannah Guthrie<\/a>, Jenna Bush Hager<\/a>, Craig Melvin<\/a>, Sheinelle Jones<\/a> and more have consistently reminded him of how important his whimsy\u2014and knowledge of climatology, of course\u2014has been to the show\u2019s evolution. <\/p>\n

And true to their love for him, his co-anchors dedicated a sweet tribute to Al<\/a> during Today\u2019s Jan. 27 episode, highlighting his greatest moments in a nearly eight-minute video.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s not just one of the faces of the Today show, but he\u2019s a global ambassador,\u201d Craig expressed, while Carson Daly described his storied career as \u201can incredible milestone.\u201d<\/p>\n

As for how Al embraced this heartfelt present?
\u201cMy family here means so much to me. I think about my parents, too. I wouldn\u2019t be here if it weren\u2019t for Allen and Isabel Roker,\u201d he expressed, before nodding towards the camera. \u201cAnd all of you. It\u2019s just been an honor.\u201d <\/p>\n
