\n\tJimmy Kimmel<\/a> tore into Amazon\u2019s new documentary about Melania<\/a> Trump during his Tuesday night Jimmy Kimmel Live!<\/a> monologue.<\/p>\n

\n\tDirected by Brett Ratner, Melania is an inside look at Donald Trump<\/a>\u2018s partner as she prepared to return to the White House before the 2025 inauguration. The film is distributed by Amazon MGM Studios and rolling out into more than 1,500 theaters across the U.S. this weekend.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cAccording to the writer Michael Wolff, Melania is bigly upset that the murders in Minneapolis are overshadowing the release of the $75 million bribe \u2014 I mean, \u2018documentary\u2019 \u2014 that Amazon made for her,\u201d Kimmel said. \u201c[ICE protester] Alex Pretti was killed on Saturday, the same day they had a VIP screening of the movie at the White House. Now, when she\u2019s promoting her film she has to answer questions about it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe host then showed a clip of the first lady on Fox News being asked for her message to America about \u201cunifying, both sides.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWe need to unify,\u201d Melania flatly replied. \u201cI am calling for unity.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cOh, good, Melania\u2019s calling for unity,\u201d Kimmel snarked. \u201cEither that, or she is ordering tea, it\u2019s hard to tell.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMelania then said during her interview that Donald Trump \u201cloved\u201d the film: \u201cHe said \u2018must watch.’\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cFor him, it\u00a0is\u00a0a\u00a0must\u00a0watch, not for us,\u201d Kimmel said. \u201cMy guess is he saw the first eight minutes and fell asleep in his popcorn bucket \u2026 Her son and her husband liked it. All the people in the movie are giving it rave reviews \u2014 that\u2019s enough for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMelania opens in theaters Friday. While screenshots of theaters with unsold seats have been circulating on social media, tracking service NRG has predicted a launch<\/a> in the $5 million range \u2014 which would be enormously successful for a documentary. Exhibitors are less certain, however. <\/p>\n

\n\tAmazon MGM paid $40 million to license the film and is expected to spend another $35 million on marketing \u2014 thus Kimmel\u2019s $75 million \u201cbribe\u201d figure. <\/p>\n
