This was the second consecutive year with a rise since the 2022 decrease (609 255 GWh). Nuclear power plants accounted for 23.3% of the total electricity production in the EU.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\">The EU\u2019s largest nuclear producer, France, generated 58.6% of the EU\u2019s nuclear power (380 451 GWh). Spain followed with 54 510 GWh (8.4%), ahead of Sweden (50 665 GWh; 7.8%) and Finland (32 599 GWh; 5.0%).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\">Compared with 2023, nuclear electricity production increased the most in France (+12.5%), followed by Sweden (4.5%) and Slovenia (+4.2%). The other producers of nuclear electricity registered an average decrease of 4%, varying between -0.6% in Slovakia and -10.3% in the Netherlands.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"ecl-u-type-paragraph\">Germany was the second-largest producer in the EU up until 2021, having terminated nuclear production completely in April 2023.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center\"><a class=\"ecl-link\" href=\"https:\/\/ec.europa.eu\/eurostat\/documents\/4187653\/22922868\/nuclear-energy-2024.jpg\/aa6f819f-bf5c-ff67-c3f2-1b5d7b991dce?t=1769608274509\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Gross nuclear electricity production in the EU, 2024 (Gigawatt-hour). In Hungary, Bulgaria, Belgium, Finland and Czechia, around 40% of all electricity generated was nuclear.
