{"id":264219,"date":"2026-01-29T20:29:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T20:29:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/264219\/"},"modified":"2026-01-29T20:29:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T20:29:08","slug":"bridgerton-season-4-part-1-ending-explained-by-luke-thompson","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/264219\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Bridgerton&#8217; Season 4 Part 1 Ending Explained By Luke Thompson"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tSPOILER ALERT: This post contains spoilers for the end of <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/bridgerton\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bridgerton\" data-tag=\"bridgerton\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bridgerton<\/a> Season 4 Part 1.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tTowards the end of Part 1 of Bridgerton Season 4, Benedict (<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/luke-thompson\/\" id=\"auto-tag_luke-thompson\" data-tag=\"luke-thompson\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Luke Thompson<\/a>) makes Sophie (<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/yerin-ha\/\" id=\"auto-tag_yerin-ha\" data-tag=\"yerin-ha\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Yerin Ha<\/a>) an offer he thinks she can\u2019t refuse, but she absolutely does reject him.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAs in Julia Quinn\u2019s novel, An Offer From a Gentleman, which follows Benedict\u2019s love story with one Sophie Beckett (changed to Baek in the show as Sophie is Korean), the second Bridgerton son gets it in his head that all of his and Sophie\u2019s class differences and competing romantic interest can be solved by him asking her to be his mistress.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tSophie, to put it bluntly, does not take it well. She doesn\u2019t give a verbal answer, but she leaves.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cShe\u2019s super offended. That word for her, carries a deep, traumatic root, and also it ties to her existence in this world as well, and it brings a lot of shame for her and her past childhood and how difficult it has been living the life that she has,\u201d Australian actress Yerin Ha told Deadline. \u201cShe\u2019s not just a maid, but she\u2019s also illegitimate. Her walls immediately come back up. I think she forgot her station and her place, and [Benedict] snaps her out of the fantasy bubble that she [was] living in.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tBenedict doesn\u2019t know all of these things about Sophie yet, while in the book she had revealed some of the less desirable aspects of her background when they spend time together at My Cottage after he gets sick and she helps him recover. Benedict gets the idea from a friend at Cavender\u2019s party who tells him of his mistress, Virginia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cI do think he makes the offer in good faith. I think, like a lot of moments in this show, he doesn\u2019t realize, or he has this huge blind spot about how that might come across,\u201d Luke Thompson added in the joint interview. \u201cFor him, he thinks it\u2019s like, \u2018Well, this is the solution, right? We\u2019ll still get to do this,\u2019 but he doesn\u2019t see that that is not giving yourself entirely to someone. He\u2019s still trying to control it and be like, \u2018Okay, well, you could be my mistress, and that will be separate from my social life, and that can be separate from another aspect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/wp-content\/themes\/pmc-deadline-2019\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.jpg\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/BRIDGERTON_403_Unit_02966R.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"683\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\tL-R: Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton, Yerin Ha as Sophie Baek in \u2018Bridgerton\u2019 Season 4 <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThompson also pointed out that the moment could be one of great growth for his character.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s a polarizing moment, which I think is great, particularly coming from a character that \u2014 I get the sense anyway, from general response to the character so far \u2014 [he\u2019]s come across as very likable and very sensitive and intuitive and, very switched on,\u201d the actor said. \u201cIt\u2019s both surprising, but also makes sense of that side of him, that there is one part of him that is flawed, and that\u2019s really saying, well, essentially saying to someone, \u2018I love you.\u2019 I mean, we\u2019re not there yet, but it\u2019s very difficult for him to do that, and so he\u2019s slowly tiptoeing towards the edge and hoping that he can still hold back.
