{"id":264296,"date":"2026-01-29T21:32:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-29T21:32:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/264296\/"},"modified":"2026-01-29T21:32:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-29T21:32:11","slug":"police-move-to-indict-ring-smuggling-goods-to-gaza-that-includes-shin-bet-chiefs-relative","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/264296\/","title":{"rendered":"Police move to indict ring smuggling goods to Gaza that includes Shin Bet chief&#8217;s relative"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Law enforcement on Thursday moved to prosecute a number of suspects, including a relative of Shin Bet chief David Zini, who allegedly helped smuggle goods from Israel into Gaza in exchange for cash.<\/p>\n<p>Police filed a prosecutor\u2019s declaration to the Ashkelon Magistrate\u2019s Court, a procedural step before indictments are submitted, likely next week.<\/p>\n<p>The court later issued a statement revealing that one of the suspects is Zini\u2019s relative, while stressing that the Shin Bet chief has no connection to the alleged smuggling.<\/p>\n<p>However, in light of the relative\u2019s ties to the agency, the case is being investigated by the Israel Police, instead of the Shin Bet, the court said.<\/p>\n<p>Hebrew media outlets reported varying numbers of suspects. The gag order is in place until February 10.<\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"https:\/\/static-cdn.toi-media.com\/www\/uploads\/2026\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-01-28-at-17.32.27.jpeg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-3743629\" src=\"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/WhatsApp-Image-2026-01-28-at-17.32.27-640x400.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"375\"\/><\/a><br \/>\n\t\tShin Bet chief David Zini (left) and IDF Chief of Staff Lt.
