After leading season 3, Luke Newton<\/a> and Nicola Coughlan<\/a> return as the friends-turned-lovers in season 4<\/a>, and they’re not only married \u2014 they’re parents!<\/p>\n Newton, 32, tells PEOPLE he was “really excited to come back this season after going through quite a rollercoaster of emotions last year” as the season’s lead.<\/p>\n “There’s rarely ever any time to sit in that peaceful, joyful area within the Bridgerton world \u2014 because we want to keep it interesting for people to watch \u2014 but it was really nice for me to come back this year and just get to really settle down.”<\/p>\n In season 4, fans get to see Colin and Penelope “live in that honeymoon, happily ever after,” while watching a “beautiful love story blossom from afar” between Benedict (Luke Thompson<\/a>) and Sophie (Yerin Ha<\/a>),” Newton says.<\/p>\n Gareth Cattermole\/Getty <\/p>\n The couple are still getting up to some nonsense together, though, and Part 1 sees them revisit a particularly memorable scene from season 3<\/a> as they have a steamy hookup in a carriage while on their way to meet Francesca (Hannah Dodd<\/a>) and John (Victor Alli<\/a>) for ice cream.<\/p>\n “I know that that was a big moment for fans [in season 3], so it was nice to have a little nod back to that,” Newton says of the carriage scene in season 4 with Coughlan, 39.<\/p>\n “It was also just really funny to stumble out of it, because then we meet [Francesca and John] and then we just go and eat ice cream \u2014\u00a0it’s like the best day ever for Colin,” Newton says. “Some carriage action and then some ice cream \u2014 it’s his dream.”<\/p>\n Liam Daniel\/Netflix<\/p>\n Even though they filmed a lot of intimate scenes in season 3, Newton says he still came prepared. “It’s always on my mind to be prepared and ready for those kinds of scenes.”<\/p>\n Overall, he says it felt “great to be back” in the Bridgerton world. “I really, really loved it. I almost feel like I’m part of the ensemble again, but really enjoying it as a viewer as well,” he shares.<\/p>\n Liam Daniel\/Netflix <\/p>\n The carriage scene in season 3 was not only a highly anticipated moment from the book,\u00a0Romancing Mister Bridgerton<\/a>, it was also a major cliffhanger for fans as it ended Part 1, leaving Colin and Penelope’s future up in the air.<\/p>\n Newton told PEOPLE ahead of season 3’s second installment that he was “blown away” by the fan response to the carriage scene<\/a>.<\/p>\n “It’s amazing.
