Paul Dano discussed a possible return as the Riddler in The Batman franchise during an interview with Clique TV.<\/p>\n
When asked about returning as the Riddler in The Batman franchise, Paul Dano said, \u201cWe\u2019ll see. I don\u2019t know. I mean, sure. Yeah, sure. Why not?\u201d He continued, \u201cIf we could do something really good\u2026 yeah. You\u2019ve got to keep the bar high. That\u2019s one of the things I liked about Matt Reeves and I\u2014we\u2019re both obsessive\u2026 as long as we can make something we care about.\u201d<\/p>\n
Dano emphasized his appreciation for the quality of The Batman, stating, \u201cI really loved making this movie so much that I wrote a comic afterwards that came out, and I felt very invested in the world. I loved Gotham, I loved our set, I loved Matt Reeves.\u201d Reflecting on the character of Edward Nashton, he added, \u201cThis was a guy who was an orphan like Bruce Wayne\u2026 who had a really traumatic upbringing\u2026 and was obviously unwell.\u201d<\/p>\n
He elaborated on the psychological dimension of the role, saying, \u201cWhat I really liked about this was what he thought was his connection to the Batman\u2026 the villain, the bad guy saw himself in line with the hero\u2026 and sort of gets his heart broken.\u201d Dano described filming the pivotal confrontation scene between Riddler and Batman as \u201ca great day\u2026 a really, really fun scene\u201d that was shot over two days.<\/p>\n
Dano\u2019s connection to the role extended beyond the screen. \u201cI wrote, you know, a comic afterwards that came out,\u201d he said, referencing the DC-published Riddler: Year One, which explored the character\u2019s origins. He rooted his portrayal in trauma and identity, not just intellectual rivalry.
Dano said he\u2019s open to returning in The Batman: Part II if the material meets the first film\u2019s high standards.<\/p>\n
