Ahead of the February 17, 2026, shutdown of Warner Bros. Discovery’s version of the service, Rogers has launched a new Discovery+ platform that does not automatically migrate existing accounts. The result is a manual reset that wipes out payment information, profiles, watch history, and personal settings, turning what should be a seamless transition into a frustrating rebuild for current users.

For subscribers who have paid for years and built viewing habits around the service, the change feels less like an upgrade and more like a disruption. Instead of preserving continuity, the transition places the burden on users to recover what they already paid for — time, preferences, and trust.

According to Cord Cutter News, Discovery+’s customer support page states that accounts and data, which include payment information, profiles, and watch history, will not transfer to the new Discovery+. Say goodbye to your personal settings, such as watchlists and favorite shows, as they won’t be saved. The lack of account migration underscores how disruptive the transition is for existing subscribers.

Consumers Are Forced to Do the Dirty Work

As previously reported, the place to watch your favorite shows from the Discovery Channel, HGTV, Food Network, and TLC will officially change hands. Though it may seem like a minor shift, Warner Bros. Discovery and Rogers are relying on users to do the heavy lifting. Because current subscribers don’t have an automatic migration, they’re forced to rebuild their viewing setup from scratch. That is, if they choose to. Perhaps the headache will lead some users to pass on the opportunity out of spite.

In order to ensure you stay up to date on your favorite shows like Sister Wives, Swamp People, Home Town, and more, you must go through the new interface and add them back into your queue. Otherwise, you may end up missing an episode in the process. It’s not uncommon for streaming services to force users to adapt, including earlier platform transitions such as HBO GO to HBO Max, and by integrating Hulu into Disney+, as similar migration woes occurred there as well. In this case, it’s under new management, which may cause less assistance if needed.

                    Related

<a href="https://collider.com/best-warner-bros-movies-of-all-time-ranked/" title="The 20 Greatest Warner Bros. The new app will be available on the following formats: Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Samsung TV, Android TV, and on the web, mobile devices, and tablets. Your previous source for Discovery+ is not listed? Well, you’d better get access as the new app will not be supported on several common devices, including Roku TV, LG Smart TVs, Amazon Fire Tablets, Chromecast, and Xbox.

The move from Warner Bros. Discovery is consistent and aligns with its recent strategy. Zooming out, the handoff to Rogers fits a broader pattern for Warner Bros. Discovery — one that favors partnerships and licensing deals over the cost and complexity of operating every platform itself. It echoes their recent decision to stream major HBO and Warner Bros. Discovery content on Netflix. Coincidentally, for reality television content, those titles will not move to Netflix and will likely remain on HBO Max. In America, there is significant overlap in reality television titles available on Discovery+ and HBO Max. The benefit of choosing the latter for your TLC, HGTV, and Food Network content was the ability to watch the major HBO titles alongside it.

What’s being billed as a platform transition instead exposes how easily a loyal streaming audience can be asked to sacrifice continuity for corporate convenience.

                                            Release Date

         January 3, 2021

                                            Network

               HBO Max, discovery+, Magnolia Network

Joanna Gaines

                                                    Self – Host

Discovery+ subscribers in Canada aren’t just being asked to download a new app — they’re being forced to…

[29
146,85,46,411
0":"post-265330","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-tv","8":"tag-entertainment","9":"tag-il","10":"tag-israel","11":"tag-tv
["GET
