The
\nWestern Force delivered a first-half try frenzy to make it two wins from two
\ngames in pre-season, downing the ACT Brumbies 42-12 at Scotch College Playing
\nFields on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n
In warm but
\nwindy conditions, the Force ran in five first-half tries, opening up a 35-0
\nlead at the break to take strong form heading into their Round 1 clash against
\nthe Brums in a fortnight\u2019s time.<\/p>\n
Prop Tom
\nRobertson and openside flanker Carlo Tizzano scored first-half doubles as the
\nForce forward pack flexed their muscle.<\/p>\n
Fly-half
\nBen Donaldson delivered the best try of the lot with a brilliant kick and chase
\ntry, while Henry Robertson rounded out the scoring late, after the Brumbies
\nrallied in the second 40.<\/p>\n
The result
\noffers optimism for Simon Cron and the Sea of Blue heading into the 2026 Swyftx
\nSuper Rugby Pacific season.<\/p>\n
The Force
\ntook an early lead with Wallabies prop Robertson coming up with the ball after
\na pack of bodies charged over the try line.<\/p>\n
UWA product
\nTizzano added a second in the 18th minute from a lineout maul,
\ndarting over as it fell apart, with Donaldson adding the extras for a 14-0 lead.<\/p>\n
Donaldson
\nthen scored the try of the half, as the Force repelled a Brumbies attack with Mac
\nGrealy leading the counter-attack. <\/p>\n
Grealy
\noffloaded for Donaldson who kicked in his own half and raced past Shane Wilcox
\nfor a brilliant kick-chase try. Donaldson maintained his perfect record from
\nthe tee for a 21-0 lead.<\/p>\n
The Force forwards
\ngot to work again from a 15m attacking lineout, with Robertson crossing from a
\nmaul.<\/p>\n
The
\nattacking phases kept mounting for the Force, with Tizzano barging his way over
\na fifth for the home side in the first half. Donaldson converted for a 35-0
\nhalf-time lead.<\/p>\n
In the
\nsecond half, Kane Koteka was yellow carded for repeated Force infringements. The
\nForce defence held strong despite their numerical disadvantage, holding up
\nDarcy Breen over the line.<\/p>\n
But the
\nBrumbies persisted and would get on the scoreboard on the hour mark via a
\npenalty try.<\/p>\n
Will Harris
\nproduced a penalty turnover in the Brumbies\u2019 attacking 15m enabling the hosts
\nto close it out.<\/p>\n
