Palestinian militant group Hamas said on Sunday that it was prepared to \u201cimmediately sit at the negotiating table\u201d after US President Donald Trump issued what he called \u201clast warning\u201d to them to accept his latest ceasefire and hostage release proposal.<\/p>\n
In a statement, Hamas said it was ready to discuss the release of all hostages in exchange for \u201ca clear declaration to end the war, a total withdrawal from the Gaza Strip, and creation of a committee of independent Palestinians to run the Gaza Strip.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cHamas welcomes any move that helps the efforts to stop the aggression against our people,\u201d the group said, adding that it had received \u201csome ideas from the American side aimed at reaching a ceasefire.\u201d The statement also said Hamas was in \u201cconstant contact with mediators to turn these ideas into a comprehensive agreement that meets our demands.\u201d<\/p>\n
TRUMP SIGNALS PROGRESS<\/p>\n
Trump, returning to Washington on Sunday evening after a trip to New York, told reporters he believed a deal to secure the release of all hostages held by Hamas could be reached soon. \u201cWe\u2019re working on a solution that may be very good,\u201d he said. \u201cYou\u2019ll be hearing about it pretty soon. We\u2019re trying to get it ended, get the hostages back.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added that while some of the hostages may already have died, the goal was to secure their return regardless: \u201cI think we\u2019re going to get them all.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2018LAST WARNING\u2019 FROM WASHINGTON<\/p>\n
Earlier on Sunday, Trump said that Israel had accepted his terms and that it was now Hamas\u2019s turn to do so. Writing on his Truth Social platform, he warned: \u201cI have warned Hamas about the consequences of not accepting. This is my last warning, there will not be another one!\u201d<\/p>\n
According to Israel\u2019s N12 News, Trump\u2019s proposal calls for Hamas to release the remaining 48 hostages on the first day of a ceasefire in return for the release of thousands of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli jails, while broader negotiations on ending the war continue under the truce. An Israeli official said the government was \u201cseriously considering\u201d the offer but gave no further details.<\/p>\n
ISRAEL’S FRESH EVACUATION CALL IN GAZA<\/p>\n
Even as talks gained momentum, the Israeli military\u2019s Arabic spokesperson on Sunday issued a new evacuation warning for residents in a building in Gaza City and nearby tents housing displaced families, urging them to leave immediately. It was the second such warning for the same location in little over 24 hours. Israel has repeatedly called for Hamas to surrender while continuing strikes in Gaza.<\/p>\n
TALKS REMAIN FLUID<\/p>\n
Hamas, for its part, has not disclosed the specifics of Trump\u2019s plan but reiterated that it had received \u201cideas\u201d through mediators and was examining them. The group maintains that any deal must include a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza and an independent Palestinian administration for the territory.<\/p>\n
