Early reviews for The Big Bang Theory alum Kaley Cuoco<\/a>\u2018s new thriller series, Vanished, have surfaced. However, many of them are far from positive, with the series\u2019 plot and storytelling both being criticized. The show\u2019s premise follows Alice Monroe, whose idyllic French vacation turns into a harrowing nightmare after her boyfriend disappears.<\/p>\n

The upcoming four-episode series will launch on MGM+ on February 1, 2026. In addition to Cuoco, the show stars Sam Claflin, Karin Viard, Matthias Schweigh\u00f6fer, Simon Abkarian, and Dar Zuzovsky. <\/p>\n

What Vanished reviews are saying about Kaley Cuoco\u2019s new thriller series<\/p>\n

Vanished\u2019s reviews have criticized the show\u2019s plot and its handling of character and story elements. However, several reviews have praised Kaley Cuoco\u2019s performance as the protagonist, Alice Monroe.<\/p>\n

Paste<\/a>\u2018s Saloni Gajjar, who highlighted Vanished\u2019s similarities to Cuoco\u2019s earlier series The Flight Attendant, called the show \u201ca relatively hollow thriller that depicts Middle Eastern countries with an annoying sepia filter.\u201d While their review praised Cuoco and her co-star Sam Claflin\u2019s individual performances, it criticized their on-screen chemistry, saying the pair \u201c[failed] to fully sell their characters\u2019 seemingly intense dynamic.\u201d<\/p>\n

El Kuiper of ScreenRant<\/a> labeled the show \u201can unsatisfying, fast-paced thrill ride.\u201d Their review also highlighted the show\u2019s lack of a compelling villain and took issue with the four-episode format, stressing that it limited the usage of the characters and their backstories. Kuiper added, \u201cVanished\u00a0feels like a combination of every miniseries or made-for-TV thriller you\u2019ll have seen before. Where it succeeds is in keeping your attention despite its many pitfalls. Once you\u2019re in, it\u2019s hard to look away, and that might just be enough to justify its existence.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Kuiper also praised Cuoco and Karin Viard\u2019s performances, as well as the relationship between their characters, calling them \u201cthe most impactful character relationship [in the show].\u201d<\/p>\n

Comic Book Resources<\/a>\u2018 Martin Carr said that the series\u2019s formulaic approach to thriller stories hampered it. He added that it had the potential to be \u201cexceptional\u201d but ended up becoming \u201ca halfway house that rarely exploits that potential.\u201d<\/p>\n

Collider<\/a>\u2018s Jasneet Singh said that the near-perfect series was undermined by its last 10 minutes. However, their review said the series is \u201cintriguing and fun enough to be worth watching.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Los Angeles Times<\/a>\u2018 Robert Lloyd said in his review that the show \u201clacks spark and suspense.\u201d He also took issue with Cuoco\u2019s performance, stressing she \u201c[felt] out of joint [in the series].\u201d He added that the \u201cpedestrian direction and dialogue\u201d didn\u2019t help her performance and that she came off as \u201ca person playing a person, rather than as the person she\u2019s playing.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Early reviews for The Big Bang Theory alum Kaley Cuoco\u2018s new thriller series, Vanished, have surfaced.
