My dad loved Harry Nilsson<\/a> and Harry Chaplin. \u2018Everybody\u2019s Talkin\u2019\u2019 just reminds me of him. It gives me such a warm feeling.\u201d<\/p>\n The song I wish I\u2019d written<\/p>\n Doechii \u2013 \u2018Nissan Altima\u2019\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cIt takes every Peaches<\/a> song I\u2019ve ever made and blows them all out of the water. The way she rhymes things, all the innuendoes \u2013 I\u2019m just floored by it. I love music when people are being really direct with what they\u2019re saying. I started making music because it didn\u2019t feel like that was happening and now, there\u2019s two generations of it happening.\u201d<\/p>\n The song I can\u2019t get out of my head<\/p>\n Kylie Minogue \u2013 \u2018Can\u2019t Get You Out of My Head\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cAs soon as anyone says \u2018can\u2019t get out of my head\u2019, I start going \u2018la la la\u2019. I\u2019m not obsessed with Kylie<\/a> or anything but love that song. It was such a moment in time, I love the sexiness of it and it\u2019s really beautifully done.\u201d<\/p>\n The song I can no longer listen to<\/p>\n Don McLean \u2013 \u2018American Pie\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t think anybody can listen to that anymore, same with [Billy Joel<\/a>\u2019s] \u2018Piano Man\u2019. It just goes on and on and on. It was poetry at the time but now I can\u2019t stand it. I also can\u2019t listen to [James Blunt\u2019<\/a>s] \u2018You\u2019re Beautiful\u2019. It\u2019s got the worst melody.\u201d<\/p>\n The song that makes me want to dance<\/p>\n Daft Punk \u2013 \u2018Rollin And Scratchin\u2019\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cIt was hard to pick between this and Le Tigre<\/a>\u2019s \u2018Deceptacon\u2019. They both just get to my soul and there\u2019s no way I can sit down when I hear them. I just adore the tension of \u2018Rollin\u2019 And Scratchin\u2019\u2019, it\u2019s a song that has really inspired me. \u2018Deceptacon\u2019 is such a bop. It was such a cool moment in time too \u2013 Le Tigre, Miss Kitten, Chicks On Speed, Peaches, we didn\u2019t know each other but we were all making a similar kind of electric punk, cunty music. It was a movement, even if we didn\u2019t know it at the time.\u201d<\/p>\n The song that makes me cry<\/p>\n Roberta Flack \u2013 \u2018The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cEven saying the name of the song gets me choked up. It should be a joyous song because it\u2019s about the first time she\u2019s seeing this beautiful face but her voice, the echo in the room, there\u2019s just this heartache to it. You want to know what happened next. It\u2019s so painful but so beautiful.\u201d<\/p>\n The song I do at karaoke<\/p>\n Kate Bush \u2013 \u2018Wuthering Heights\u2019<\/p>\n \u201cThere are so many songs I do but I nail that one every single time. It makes people\u2019s eyes pop out of their head and they get very confused, which is fun to watch. I love karaoke, especially power ballads from the \u201870s and \u201880s \u2013 Tina Turner<\/a>\u2019s \u2018Private Dancer\u2019, Heart<\/a>\u2019s \u2018Barracuda\u2019, Pat Benatar<\/a>\u2019s \u2018Love Is A Battlefield\u2019, Bonnie Tyler<\/a>\u2019s \u2018Total Eclipse Of The Heart\u2019 and anything by Celine Dion<\/a>.
