The rumored plan was a 2026 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comingsoon.net\/tag\/cannes-film-festival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Cannes Film Festival<\/a> premiere followed by release later that year. Now, \u00d6stlund might hold the film for one more year and bring it to Cannes 2027.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt the end of February, we\u2019re going to decide whether to go to Cannes this year, or actually wait and edit one more year before we release the film,\u201d \u00d6stlund told <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2026\/01\/ruben-ostlund-the-entertainment-system-is-down-cannes-1236703210\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Deadline <\/a>from the\u00a0G\u00f6teborg\u00a0Film Festival.<\/p>\n<p>According to \u00d6stlund, editing this unique film has been extremely time-consuming. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, you can map out all your images in a VR set, so you know exactly where the camera is going to stand,\u201d \u00d6stlund added. \u201cSo when you get to the actual set, the camera is constantly rolling. And now, when I\u2019m editing, I basically have to edit down 60 minutes of material to a one-minute scene. So it\u2019s a huge amount of material and will take a long time, and I have to pay the material respect.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In \u00d6stlund\u2019s new black comedy, a group of passengers must \u201ccontend with boredom\u201d when the entertainment system breaks.<\/p>\n<p>Reeves and Dunst headline a star-studded cast that also features <a href=\"https:\/\/www.comingsoon.net\/tag\/daniel-bruhl\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Daniel Br\u00fchl<\/a>, Samantha Morton, Nicholas Braun, Julie Delpy, Tobias Menzies, Vincent Lindon, Connor Swindells, Daniel Webber, Wayne Blair, Daniel Wyllie, Lindsay Duncan, Allan Corduner, Sofia Tjelta Sydness, Erin Ainsworth, Myles Kamwendo, Sanna Sundqvist, Elle Piper, Tea Stj\u00e4rne, and Benjamin Ingrosso.<\/p>\n<p>\u00d6stlund writes and directs the feature, and Erik Hemmendorff and Philippe Bober will produce.
