Yellowstone star Kelly Reilly’s brand new Welsh crime drama Under Salt Marsh airs tonight with a double-bill episode. The six-part Sky series takes place in the fictional Welsh town of Morfa Halen. <\/p>\n

In the midst of an impending storm that threatens the survival of the town, the body of 9-year-old Cefin is discovered by his school teacher and former detective Jackie Ellis (Reilly). His death has a ripple effect throughout the community, dredging up the past when it sheds new light on the cold case that ended Jackie’s policing career, the disappearance of her niece Nessa. <\/p>\n

“Cefin’s death summons Jackie’s former partner, Detective Eric Bull (Rafe Spall), back to Morfa Halen to lead the investigation into a community he failed once before,” the synopsis reads.<\/p>\n

“With the looming potential that the cases are linked, Jackie and Bull must reconcile and race to uncover long-buried secrets inside Morfa, before the storm breaks and all the evidence is gone for good.”<\/p>\n

Sky’s promises an “intimate and cinematic story”, which stars Happy Valley’s Mark Stanley, Fool Me Once’s Dino Fetscher, Bad Sisters’ Brian Gleeson, and Nightsleeper’s Naomi Yang. <\/p>\n

Award-winning actor Jonathan Pryce, known for Slow Horses and Game of Thrones, also features in the Welsh crime drama. <\/p>\n

“It’s such a wonderful ensemble,” said Reilly. “To come back to the UK and work with British actors has been a joy \u2013 it’s so beautiful to watch.” <\/p>\n

She added: “Jonathan Pryce is one of the greats, and Harry Lawtey, who plays Dylan, is incredibly talented. Everyone brings passion, even in tough conditions.<\/p>\n

Reilly described Under Salt Marsh as ‘a character study’, as well as a crime drama. “It explores how trauma and guilt shape someone,” she explained.<\/p>\n

“I hope it takes viewers on an emotional journey, making them reflect on how they’d cope if something similar happened in their own community.”<\/p>\n

The first two episodes of Under Salt Marsh are available to watch tonight on Sky and the streaming service NOW. <\/p>\n
