The former Duchess of York had been living in the historic mansion with her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor since 2008.<\/p>\n

Ferguson has not yet announced where she will live post-eviction.<\/p>\n

As Sarah Ferguson<\/a> and her ex-husband Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor<\/a> prepare to vacate Royal Lodge<\/a>, the former Duchess of York has reportedly left the U.K. in order to weigh her next move. The news of her temporary relocation oversees was exclusively reported by People<\/a> on Friday, January 30.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe is assessing a number of options currently, and no final decision has been made,\u201d a spokesperson previously told the publication.<\/p>\n

Another source likewise told People this past October that Fergie wants to “move forward independently<\/a>.”<\/p>\n

\u201cContrary to reports, she has never asked for a property or any provision for herself,\u201d they added. \u201cShe will continue to forge an independent life.”<\/p>\n

Ferguson has been living at Royal Lodge with Mountbatten-Windsor\u00a0since 2008 (the ex-prince moved there by himself in 2004). The historic Georgian mansion sits on the grounds of Windsor Great Park, just down the road from Windsor Castle<\/a>. In 2018, the ex-couple’s daughter Princess Eugenie<\/a> hosted her wedding reception there after tying the knot at St. George’s Chapel.<\/p>\n

As for the looming eviction, King Charles<\/a> has tried (and failed) to get rid of his younger brother several times in the past. Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II<\/a>, the monarch reportedly offered his younger brother\u00a0Frogmore Cottage<\/a>, which had recently been vacated by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex<\/a>. Andrew refused to leave Royal Lodge, however.<\/p>\n

In 2024, King Charles took his efforts one step further by\u00a0cutting off Andrew’s private security and allowance<\/a>. The disgraced royal again remained at Royal Lodge. Calls to evict him were renewed in 2025 following new allegations against him and his ex-wife with regard to their relationship with Jeffrey Epstein. Most recently, news broke that Mountbatten-Windsor would relocate to Marsh Farm, a “shoe box-sized<\/a>” cottage on the Sandringham Estate.<\/p>\n
