A new It: Welcome to Derry<\/a> update has shed some more light on when fans might be able to expect a second season, and why one hasn\u2019t been ordered yet. <\/p>\n

What\u2019s the latest update on It: Welcome to Derry\u2019s Season 2?<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Deadline, HBO CEO Casey Bloys was asked about why Welcome to Derry hasn\u2019t been ordered for a second season yet despite the show\u2019s massive success. Bloys said the show was \u201cnot in limbo at all,\u201d and that Andy and Barbara Muschietti are actually working on ideas for a second season. Bloys went on to mention that he\u2019d happily want another season if it comes to it. <\/p>\n

\u201cLet me say, not in limbo at all. Hardly,\u201d Bloys said. \u201cIt was a huge success for us. And Andy [Muschietti] and Barbara [Muschietti] are hard at work trying to come up with an idea for a story they\u2019d want to tell for another season. I would happily do it. <\/p>\n

\u201cOne of the challenges is, there\u2019s not a book that you\u2019re basing it on, so it\u2019s invention. They want to make sure that they have a story they\u2019re excited to tell. So it\u2019s not limbo other than they need to land on something they\u2019re excited by creatively. We\u2019ll be there.\u201d <\/p>\n

It: Welcome to Derry premiered in October 2025, and was a big hit for HBO. The series received a ton of praise for much of its production value and acting. The series saw Bill Skarsg\u00e5rd reprise his role as Pennywise, and also starred Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Matilda Lawler, Amanda Christine, Clara Stack, Blake Cameron James, and more.<\/p>\n

\u201cSet in the world of Stephen King\u2019s\u00a0It\u00a0universe,\u00a0Welcome to Derry\u00a0is based on King\u2019s\u00a0It\u00a0novel,\u201d the series\u2019 current description reads. \u201cIt expands the vision established by filmmaker Andy Muschietti in the feature films It\u00a0and\u00a0It Chapter Two.\u201d<\/p>\n

Andy Muschietti<\/a>, who directed It and It Chapter Two, developed Welcome to Derry alongside Barbara Muschietti and Jason Fuchs. Andy Muschietti also directed four episodes in the nine-episode series.<\/p>\n

Andy and Barbara Muschietti also serve as executive producers alongside Skarsg\u00e5rd, Fuchs, Brad Caleb Kane, David Coatsworth, Shelley Meals, Roy Lee, and Dan Lin. Fuchs and Kane serve as co-showrunners.<\/p>\n
