Whether you\u2019re Beyonc\u00e9 or Eve, it\u2019s never too late to receive a Grammy, no matter how long it takes. Well, it\u2019s finally Eve\u2019s day to receive her long-overdue second little gold gramophone. Per The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, the \u201cLove Is Blind\u201d rapper finally picked up a Grammy for her uncredited verse on The Roots<\/a>\u2018 \u201cYou Got Me\u201d 27 years after the song\u2019s release and subsequent Grammy win. The song won the best rap performance by a duo or group award at the 2000 Grammys, but, in a scenario reminiscent of poor Llewyn Davis\u2019 experience on \u201cMr. Kennedy,\u201d Eve went uncredited, excluding her from the spoils of awards season war. Though if you ask Recording Academy president Harvey Mason, once they learned about the story, \u201cit was really simple[\u2026]we needed to make it right.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eve was still relatively unknown as a rapper when the song was released, and she released her debut album nine months after \u201cYou Got Me\u201d hit the airwaves. Nevertheless, the exclusion had clearly been bugging the members of the Roots, or at least Questlove, who admitted to being \u201cextremely inconsiderate\u201d when discussing the controversy with Eve on his podcast in 2024. This is Eve\u2019s second Grammy, having previously won for her collaboration with Gwen Stefani, \u201cLet Me Blow Your Mind.\u201d Indeed, Eve\u2019s mind appeared blown as she accepted the award at the Record Academy Honors last night in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
