Elon Musk took to X on Sunday to claim two-time Oscar-winning director Christopher Nolan \u201chas lost his integrity\u201d while debating Lupita Nyong\u2019o\u2019s speculated role in \u201cThe Odyssey,\u201d Helen of Troy.<\/p>\n
On Sunday morning, one X user claimed that if Nyong\u2019o plays Helen of Troy, it is \u201can insult\u201d to the Greek poet Homer, who wrote \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d around 700 BCE, because he originally described the fictonal character as \u201cfair skinned, blonde, and \u2018the face that launched a thousand ships\u2019 because she was so beautiful that men started a war over her.\u201d Musk later commented<\/a> on the post, \u201cChris Nolan has lost his integrity.\u201d<\/p>\n More from Variety<\/p>\n Variety reported a Nyong\u2019o and Nolan team-up<\/a> back in November 2024, but it wasn\u2019t until the following December that the project was revealed<\/a> to be \u201cThe Odyssey.\u201d Nyong\u2019o\u2019s role in the film has yet to be confirmed. Other cast members include Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie and Elliot Page.<\/p>\n The latest addition to \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d cast is 10-time Grammy nominee Travis Scott. His role was revealed in a TV spot<\/a> that aired during Fox\u2019s broadcast of the NFL AFC Championship game. In the teaser, Scott stands on top of a table and demands the attention of a room full of soldiers, which includes Holland\u2019s Telemachus and Benthal\u2019s Menelaus.<\/p>\n Universal declined Variety\u2019s request for comment on Scott\u2019s casting.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d is the first narrative feature shot entirely with Imax cameras. The technical feat was previously impossible because the Imax cameras were too noisy, making quiet, intimate scenes unshootable. However, thanks to a new film casing called a \u201cblimp,\u201d the noise can be significantly reduced.<\/p>\n \u201cThe blimp system is a game-changer,\u201d Nolan told Empire Magazine<\/a>. \u201cYou can be shooting a foot from [an actor\u2019s] face while they\u2019re whispering and get usable sound.
