{"id":271299,"date":"2026-02-03T04:49:21","date_gmt":"2026-02-03T04:49:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/271299\/"},"modified":"2026-02-03T04:49:21","modified_gmt":"2026-02-03T04:49:21","slug":"openai-launches-codex-app-to-gain-ground-in-ai-coding-race","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/il\/271299\/","title":{"rendered":"OpenAI launches Codex app to gain ground in AI coding race"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">By Deepa Seetharaman<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">SAN FRANCISCO, Feb 2 (Reuters) &#8211; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yahoo.com\/organizations\/openai\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:OpenAI;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">OpenAI<\/a> is launching a mobile app for its coding tool, Codex, in hopes \u200bof seizing momentum &#8212; and customers &#8212; from its rivals in \u200cthe AI code-generation space.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">OpenAI said it designed its Codex app to make it \u200ceasy for users to simultaneously manage multiple <a href=\"https:\/\/tech.yahoo.com\/ai\/\" data-ylk=\"slk:artificial-intelligence;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas\" class=\"link \" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">artificial-intelligence<\/a> agents over a long period of time. The app can also then use code to do things like gather and analyze information, OpenAI officials said during \u2060a briefing with reporters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Coding \u200cis arguably the most successful application for AI models in recent years. Coding tools are key to \u200dhelping AI startups attract business customers and the space has grown increasingly competitive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">OpenAI lags behind its rivals in this area, particularly the AI startup \u200bAnthropic, which has dominated the coding market with its Claude \u200cCode tool. Anthropic says Claude Code reached $1 billion in revenue, on an annualized basis, in the six months after it was made available to the public.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">The Codex app, released on Monday, is part of OpenAI&#8217;s redoubled efforts to gain ground. OpenAI said it\u2019s also \u2060tried to make the app more \u200buser-friendly to help make these advanced capabilities \u200bmore accessible to the masses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-vbsvxt\">Many observers of the coding space say the code-generation tools aren\u2019t yet good enough \u200dto entirely replace \u2060human tech workers.
