The milestone 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season was officially launched in Auckland today, with players past and present gathering in Okahu Bay to help kick off the celebrations of 30 years of Super Rugby.<\/p>\n
The 11 clubs were represented by Patrick Tuipulotu (Blues), Patrick Pelligrini (Moana Pasifika), Tom Wright (ACT Brumbies), Manasa Mataele (Fijian Drua), Du\u2019Plessis Kirifi (Hurricanes), Nic Dolly (Western Force), Codie Taylor (Crusaders), Fraser McReight (Queensland Reds), Wallace Sititi (Chiefs), Eamon Doyle (NSW Waratahs) and Fabian Holland (Highlanders).<\/p>\n
Super Rugby Pacific CEO Jack Mesley said: \u201cIt\u2019s an incredibly special occasion. 2026 marks 30 years since Super Rugby arrived with a bang and began revolutionising the professional game. This season we will take the opportunity to reflect with pride on our history as we step towards the next 30 years.<\/p>\n

Noting the previously announced law innovations for 2026, Mesley confirmed the competition will also introduce two new accolades \u2013 Rookie of the Year and Team of the Year – to be presented alongside the Player of the Year Award at the end of the season.<\/p>\n
Mesley further revealed that to help bolster the Player of the Year voting process, a panel of respected rugby media identities from across Australia, New Zealand and Fiji had been assembled to contribute votes on each game, alongside the respective captains and coaches.<\/p>\n
The opening clash of the 2026 Super Rugby Pacific season is set for Dunedin on Friday 13 February, with the Highlanders hosting a southern derby against the defending champion Crusaders.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Later that night, the focus shifts to Allianz Stadium in Sydney where the NSW Waratahs will lock horns with bitter rivals the Queensland Reds.<\/p>\n
On Saturday 14 February, the Fijian Drua will open their 2026 campaign against Moana Pasifika at their fortress in Lautoka.\u00a0<\/p>\n
This will be followed by the Blues taking on the Chiefs at Eden Park and the ACT Brumbies tackling the Western Force in Canberra.\u00a0<\/p>\n
