A popular \u201890s singer is making a comeback with her first new solo album in six years.<\/p>\n

Melanie Chisholm, best known as Spice Girls member Melanie C, released a new song, \u201cWhat Could Possibly Go Wrong?<\/a>\u201d, on Friday. It\u2019s the second single from her upcoming ninth studio album, \u201cSweat.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe had a lot of fun working on this song and discussing the light and shade of music and life,\u201d Chisholm said in a statement<\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s a tongue in cheek look on taking risks and trusting yourself to take that leap anyway. I think a lot of people will relate!\u201d<\/p>\n

The album\u2019s first single, \u201cSweat,\u201d was released in October. The dance anthem samples Diana Ross\u2019 \u201cWork That Body\u201d and celebrates \u201cthe liberation and freedom of dance culture,\u201d according to Variety<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The album of the same name, recorded between Stockholm and Los Angeles, will be released through Virgin Music Group and Melanie C\u2019s independent record label, Red Girl Records. It will be her first full-length album since 2020\u2019s \u201cMelanie C.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be releasing my new music with Virgin Music Group,\u201d Melanie said in October. \u201cIt feels like a homecoming after the successes we shared working together with Spice Girls and my first two solo albums. They are paving the way for more artist-led deals and have an incredibly strong international team. I\u2019m really excited to see what we can achieve together.\u201d<\/p>\n

Melanie C first rose to fame as Sporty Spice, a member of the Spice Girls. Along with bandmates Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Mel B (Scary Spice), Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) and Victoria Beckham (Posh Spice), the girl group was one of the biggest music acts of the 1990s with hits like \u201cWannabe,\u201d \u201cSpice Up Your Life,\u201d \u201cSay You\u2019ll Be There,\u201d \u201c2 Become 1,\u201d \u201cStop\u201d and \u201cViva Forever.\u201d<\/p>\n

The pop group disbanded after releasing its third album, \u201cForever,\u201d as a quartet (without Halliwell) in 2000. Chisholm launched a solo career around the same time, most notably scoring hits with \u201cI Turn to You\u201d and \u201cNever Be the Same Again\u201d from her 1999 album \u201cNorthern Star.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chisholm, 52, continued to release solo music, reunited with the Spice Girls for two tours, and appeared on TV shows like \u201cDancing with the Stars,\u201d \u201cThe Voice Australia\u201d and \u201cRuPaul\u2019s Drag Race: UK vs The World.\u201d She also recently began performing as a DJ before deciding to get back to creating new music.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve done a lot of soul-searching,\u201d she said. \u201cNow I just want to have some fun and get people dancing again.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSweat\u201d will be released May 1.
